Some of you might know Allen West. He is truly a leading member of the Tea Party. He is the one who received an envelope with white powder in it 2 weeks ago, amongst many other death threats. He has been a Congressman for 3 months.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq8BEzknL3k (this one's better!!!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHrJitv3nXM (different angle/wider) Warning be careful on the volume turn it down at 1:10 but its worth seeing
Allen West is holding a Town Hall, or attempting to anyways, and upon many interruptions, a woman started shouting... "How does adding a profit motive to Medicare going to lead to competition?" My question is, this lady is so passionate about Medicare that she ended up getting kicked out and arrested and spent the night in jail....so what is driving this woman? what's her point because I assume she meant to say something else and it came out wrong or something.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9h1XHlEPjo
A longer video from the same town hall featuring many more hecklers, and the second half of it shows the woman being arrested outside. She really loses control.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGGH-13Nfe4
Here's another video showing the woman being warned before she lost it at the town hall

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUxBIAMvBk0
Here is a woman lying out of her ass, which you will clearly understand if you made it this far down on the clips, saying she sat next to Nicole Sandler, saying Nicole was "whispering" and that the only words Nicole said was "where are you getting this information from"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tHJmQwIzUo
Nicole Sandler Recounts Her Arrest and she says she was maced in jail (warning: this progressive radio host is theeee worst host I have ever heard in my life, and actually turns an atrocious interview into A MUST SEE!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyHT4DPOqhk
Here's how the media spun it. yup, she's a victim.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZqCX_hm8_U
Oh, and here is a radio broadcast from former Air America talk show host (and currently filling in for Randy Rhodes) Nicole Sandler, who lives in West's district just 3 hours before this outburst (fact filled and no rhetoric whatsoever!)

As an aside, did he get invited to join the Congressional Black Caucus? For some reason, I highly doubt it. It would tarnish their reputation to have a black man who is conservative.

Yes Allen West is in the CBC.

Remember this guy? the head of the CBC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE_jGD5nZ6U

Well, he's in the news again. Harry Alford said yesterday
Obama is ‘Fanatical’ & ‘Marxist’ — I Only Voted for Him ‘Because He’s Black’

and....here it is. MSNBC interviews Nicole Sandler. I can't believe the lies. Anyone who watched the previous clips, especially the one showing the security warning the woman, breaks the whole thing down as a fraud.

Good God, I can't even get past the first 2 minutes of listening to his blatant lies. In the first clip, his "Crowd" label for who was yelling to tax the rich sounded like 1 person, not a crowd. In fact, it seemed like the clapping from the crowd was to drown out the screamer. In the 2nd clip, the Congressman was telling the truth: he did NOT vote to change Medicare from the way it is now. The vote was on a budget framework, not the legislation that will actually change the laws. In the 3rd clip, he sets up a blatant straw-man argument. People 55 and over would be exempted from the Medicare changes because their long-term medical plans most likely already include using Medicare. It's not that the plan wouldn't be good for them to, it's that people need to be grandfathered (pardon the pun) into any change that would fundamentally alter the entitlements that they have unfortunately become dependent to.

And all that drivel was just in the first 2 minutes!

Too bad you didn't bother to get the details on the bill yourself.

See, this is NOT a "reform" bill. It is a bill to eradicate Medicare over time.

ERADICATE one of the most successful programs...a program that, yes, most seniors DO depend upon becuase most insurance still won't cover them.... never truly did, in fact. AND.. if the tea partiers get their way and the health care reform bill is erased, then they WILL NOT HAVE HEALTH CARE AT ALL because most people have pre-existing conditions and currently almost all people with pre-existing conditions cannot get coverage.

Yes. "Reform" really isn't a proper euphemism for "eliminating in any recognizable form." Unless Hamas wants to reform Israel, by that turn of phrase.

Good, Medicare needs to be eradicated. For some reason, seniors still survived prior to 1965 (or whichever year it was passed). Maybe if families would actually take care of their elderly instead of pawning them off on the government, conditions will actually improve.

Unfortunately, changing Medicare is NOT eradicating it. Ryan's plan does the former, not the latter. Just because he wants to do block grants instead of blank checks doesn't mean the entire system is being removed. In fact, that still sounds like spending tons of money that we don't have.

oh but it is when it comes to gov't taking over healthcare and eliminates the free market involvement. Oh but wait, I'm certain you don't see it that way.

Reform is change, no matter what your politics are. The truth is, if you support Medicare the way it is, you can kiss the United States of America goodbye. If one would risk the existence of their country in order to get a check, well then maybe the country is already sinking. Just understand there are still some people trying to save it.

Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid grow every year, and gobble up 50 cents of every single dollar the US gov't gets. doesnt leave a lot left over for roads and courts and police and schools....Now fast forward 10 years, these entitlements take up over 65% of the entire US budget. 20 years we are around 90%.

did you know, if nobody was willing to borrow to our govt anymore (not a stretch as China is already lowering the bonds they purchase from us to the point where we actually buy our own bonds...insanity) the gov't, after paying all the entitlements, would have about 2 dollars left for defense, trans, education, unemployment, and we wouldn't even be able to pay the interest. Overall point: currently, we borrow just to pay interest on past debt. (not good!)

This is not a healthy balance sheet. It's okay to look at cutting something that was only supposed to spend 120 billion dollars at this time but actually spends over 500 billion. obviously, there is a problem.

If people want to expand their knowledge on medicare and proper reforms, then they should read better sources of knowledge of that issue. Instead, too many people look at some silly news article, and then go to the street/internet fora and boldy declare: YARG YARG YARG YARG YARG.

Correct, I don't see it that way, because that's not happening. It's weird, after all that time spend demanding that we read the American Care Act, it's kinda funny how people never listened.

Medicare is a popular single-payer health-care provider for seniors. If you privatize it, it is no longer a single-payer health care provider; hence, it is no longer Medicare. People want Medicare, so it will continue to be called that (as far as I can tell, the Ryan plan is equivalent to replacing all public schools with vouchers to private schools that expire after a certain number of years, but this is admittedly mostly from reading liberal blogs)

yarg.

this is more than an article. It's 6 different eye witness accounts of just how wrong this crazy woman is. The relevance here is that the comprehension failure of this crazy woman is prevalent in the mainstream. Do me a favor? if you have not already, could you click on the link in the OP with (this one is better) next to it. Listen to what the woman says and why she blows up. I think she is the one who needs to read a book. The purpose here is to show what is incorrect, and then we will be better guided to something that is more correct.

No way, six people at a Tea Party rally thought a somebody who questioned totally getting rid of the social safety net was off her rocker? This is me being surprised.

dude, there is ZERO commentary. only the interviews, which I posted only to show how this person lies. most of the clips are just a recording of what happened. You could try watching them and see that the woman is crazy, thus making my comments non sensationalist and factual.

The main thing I wanted to get to in all this, is the woman yells "That's privatizing Medicare! How is adding a profit motive going to encourage competition!!!!!!!!!"

The woman doesn't understand basic concepts, but look at how far she is taking her incorrect information and opinions? I bring attention to it now because there will be bloodshed in the future. Violence sucks, but its worse when there are victims of violence that are committed by people who are going on lies and incorrect information.

Lets employ the strategy of trying to prevent future situations of violence (something we can do), rather than point our fingers at previous lies by idiots (something we can no change). don't dare assume I supported Iraq invasion, as I was using this same very exact argument BEFORE we went into Iraq, that that was the time to stand up and say something and protest. Everything that happened after the invasion, while opinions were expressed, did not actually achieve anything except score political points.

In the clip you identify as "this one's better", her statement was "I wanna know how a profit motive makes Medicare more efficient." Her question was: "How is a 75 year old who's obese with high blood pressure gonna get insurance?" I don't know if this makes her information and opinions more or less incorrect but I thought it worth mentioning. In any case, why are you making such a big deal about the veracity of her information and ignoring the fact that she was ejected, arrested, incarcerated and possibly maced for asking questions out of turn at a town hall meeting?

Correct. She said what I said she said, as well as what you said she said.

That is exactly the spin the media wants you to believe, and that is exactly the reason I created this thread, upon hours and hours of hard work.

She was not arrested for asking questions. Watch the second half of the longer version, she was free to leave until she put her hands in the officers face and got rough with him and started yelling at the officer inside the door, at which point, she was then arrested.

Her question was "how does privatizing encourage competition" "how does a profit make medicare more efficeint" I am not trying to answer this question, simply because it's the juiciest softball question I have seen in a while and would only answer it to someone I disliked because they might be crying when I'm through, crying over the truth.

You need to watch the other clips, especially the one warning the woman before her ejection not to disrupt. Also, if you watch the first clip about the white powder sent to West, you will understand that there are many death threats against Allen West, and the security level is heightened. it was not her turn to ask a question, and she was stomping all over someone elses question and flailing her arms despite the guard in front off her telling her to stop, in fact (if you watch all the clips, you will see the guy who asked the question turn to Sandler with an interrupted look)
