I can recommend "Room" by Emma Donoghue, which was, last time I checked, way in the lead for a load of prizes this year. It's kind of a brutal read though. I picked it up very much at random and knew nothing about it before I started reading it. It starts off strangely and at a certain point you realise what it's about. I had to put it down when I figured out what was going on- I felt as if i'd been punched in the gut.

That might not be the best way to recommend a book, but if you do decide to pick it up and read it at some point, I'm not sure if I'd say it was good idea to read some spoilers or not. Reading it cold with no expectations was pretty powerful stuff. It's not a cheerful book, but it is hopeful.

Hate to bump the thread, but I what I want to post doesn't deserve to stand alone. I'm going bike shopping for a bike to be used on a campus. I hear Trek's are good, but idk.

1) Are you mechanically inclined?

2) How often will you be biking?

Just being practical -- you don't want to steal one from the campus you frequent.

It all makes sense now! As long as no one can catch me, stealing's alright! I call in shieldgenerator or Victor Sullivan in for support.

He's a 'Nam veteran, man. I don't think I want to oppose him.

AoG is still stuck between Saxi and BBS trying to get to the bathroom, and as far as I can tell, he might start tearing up soon.

Well it looks like I didn't miss anything important then... I think I'll skip going to the bathroom though.

Waiter, Never mind the man that just spoke. He is fine with his empty cup of coffee.

@rds

If you haven't bought a bike yet, and since you are mechnically inclined, then get something that's very easy for you...

If I was you, I would go to a bike shop and tell them what you want, your price range, your skill, and your purpose for the bike.

Hmm...the 'Bike Shop' = Wal-mart, so I'll just get something that looks durable. Thanks though. Victor Sullivan, I'm offended you think you're old! Why, you're clearly not a day over 100!

Yeah, the wal-mart non-unionized, minimum wage gal should be able to answer all your questions about bikes. That should be a fun afternoon.

Sully can you still handle that much caffine at your age? How about an Ensure?
