Create a MAP from a new FANTASY FILM - First to Conquer Club

Dear Map-Makers,

Our company, Presence Films, is developing a new fantasy feature film titled, 'Journey of the Seeds'.

I just remembered that the original graphic novel contains a map. That got me thinking, how cool would it be to create a CC game out of the map. I have no skills in this area but can provide all the visual content/ reference required.

Can I get a show of interest from the community regards this?

Hi CairnsWK,

The original content provided to Map makers as reference material remains the IP (Intel property) of Presence Films.

The map created for CC is gifted to the CC community.

I am unaware of any remuneration from CC to map makers but if one exists then that will have to be addressed.

The CC map itself could feature pretty much anywhere and would be considered 'in the public arena' therefore no IP would exist to do with the CC map.

Does that assist?

If not, let me know how we can encourage the outcome.

CC needs to have the full rights to use whatever material is included in the map.

Presence can give a short form agreement for rights to use the material on the site. We cannot give source material and say OK, you own that source material now but we can give away the permission to use whatever is created from that source material on the site. It's just like as if Lord of the Rings said, OK you CC can make a map to use in its games and we will put that in writing. CC does not then own the IP of Lord of the Rings.

All I'm saying is, CC needs to have rights to use the map to their own discretion, so that the copyright holder can't later decide to change their mind and demand CC to stop using the map...

If Presence gives CC permission to use intellectual names and such, then there would be no problem.

Oh yeah, we understand and would provide permission in writing. It's a gift from Presence to CC and CC's cartographers work is a gift to the whole community. No problems with that.
