This is the start of a map thread for a disneyland map with boundaries are drawn on. Any ideas comments? the pic will b ↑ soon

It has potential for a broad range of new forms of playability, but it could also be really terrible. Make sure you have an idea in mind before just tossing an image up.

I've never understood all this issue everybody has here with copyrights, especially since the whole game concept is stolen from Hasbro.

I know so very well. At the beginning of fiction books this is usually written also:

All characters of this publication are fictitious and any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

I just read a book with this text where at least five characters were just like famous politicians in the world. Just coincidental I guess.

the game play of CC and "Risk" is public domain - like "Monopoly" the game play was developed before Hasbro ever put out a game called "Risk." All Hasbro has under copyright is the name.

EvilOtto and I discussed making what he called a Diz Knee Land map months ago - it would be fun, and the D-land map is already perfect for the game; each "land" is a continent, each ride a territory.

As far as I can tell, this site has yet to run into any copyright issues, but you have to be very cautious when dealing with Diz Knee (I won't even write it in case they have spiders looking for improper usage). I think it's possible, but you'll need all new ride names (easy) and all new art work (less easy). The challenge will be coming up with artwork that reflects the spirit, creativity, and quality of the original park on which it is based.

If you're looking for continent names... FutureLand, OldWestLand, French Quarter, Main Street (leave off the country), Animal Country, etc.

Have fun - if it looks like you're on the right track you'll have a lot of support on this one.

While most companies tend to ignore copyright infringement of this nature Disney will smash you into the ground. Be careful man. 8-[

On the copyright problem:
Isn't the middle earth map technically copyright infringement as well? Couldn't they just put something about Disney on the map like the creator of the Middle Earth map put "based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien"?

i dunno, just a suggestion

This always comes up when we talk about copyrights. That person got permission to create the map from the people who own the J.R.R. Tolkien license.

The problem usually is that most people instead of saying "NO!" just choose not to respond when you ask for permission. The Tolkien folks were really cool about it.

I think if it is done right I would play it! just be careful. The latest maps are super balanced. I would like to see one that is a little more lopsided. It changes game play for the good!

And even if you did the worst that would happen is a C&D saying "take it down". Comply, and no harm no foul.

Working for a company with large intellectual holdings, I can tell you this is a minor concern...seriously.

wtf who wants to play a map were if you start off with a territory you win.. then its all about luck and patience no skill at all
