[VOTE] Favourite Map Poll - Category FOUR

Post by samuelc812 »

To celebrate this milestone on Conquer Club, we want everyone who possibly can to come and vote for their favourite maps! We want to find Conquer Club's most popular maps and celebrate the diversity we have here on Conquer Club.

All 200 Maps have been randomly placed into FOUR categories, each category has their own topic and poll.

How it works:
  • Vote for your favourite maps in each category, each category is made up of 50 Maps.
  • You are permitted to vote for 15 maps in each category.
  • You DO NOT have to use all 15 votes but that is how many you are allowed to use.
  • You CAN change your vote(s) at any time.
  • The Favourite Map Polls will be open for 2 Weeks Ending on the 2nd of November 2011.
  • Once complete, we will list the Top 12 Maps according to your votes :)

I don't know, I thought people were more imaginative than that.

Voted for Japan and Nap Europe out of all the maps in all four polls.

Well Duhhhh... Of course classic is going to be a big favorite. Most all of us started here because of the Classic game of Risk. All of the other games here are just spinoffs of the classic version. I mean are you that unaware you dumbasses that cant figguure out why classic is getting so many votes?

actually world 2.1 is leading by a lot which proves even more that these polls don't measure popularity at all.

in fact i'm very surprised that the top maps according to these 4 polls are very different than the top maps according to number of games.

world 2.1 barely makes it into top 10 according to daily games and yet it leads in the polls.
doodle earth is second after classic according to number of games but here i don't think it even gets into top 10.

basically statistically speaking these polls are worthless hence you should treat them like a fun thing and not a serious one.

I think you've mixed some things here DiM. You are measuring popularity in terms of playing.

The Poll is measuring 'Favorites.' While Doodle Earth may be popular for game playing because it is quick, that doesn't necessarily make it someone's favorite map as say World 2.1.

That is my understanding at least.

I rarely play world 2.1 but I voted for it. An awesome map but I'm not always in the mood for a mega game so I can understand why it has fewer games played than it's popular.

that's what popularity means.
a video with lots of view = popular video
an artists with lots of records sold = popular artist
a map with lots of games = popular map.

of course it's not a perfect system.
i'd rather see a formula that also includes number of rounds played per game or number of unique players or actual time spent playing.
because for example 100 doodle games have a total round count of 250 while 10 world 2.1 games might even go for 300 total rounds.
also on doodle the average round time is 30 seconds while on world 2.1 is probably 2 minutes.

so just as i said it's fun poll that measures favourites not a serious one that measures popularity

Actually when I said "dumbasses" I was refering to just one person but didnt want to get personal. And I didnt say it was leading, bot only one of the favorites.

DiM, I don't think most games means it's the most popular. People play Doodle Earth a lot because of the quick speed games. There are ~32000 World 2.1 games all together and there are ~8600 AssDoodles (8 player, assassin speed games). A FOURTH of all World 2.1 games are a specific gametype on Doodle, but that's only because Doodle speed games don't even last a few turns. They're quick points...it's like going to a casino. I don't think people like Doodle Earth because of it, they just like the fact that they can win points quickly.

Why does that have to mean that classic is the favorite though? I would guess that 8 times out of 10, whoever holds Australia wins the game. Why would people like a map that is so incredibly unbalanced? And there are certainly maps that look a lot better.

Anyway, you're a dumbasser.

I've already said this is just a fun thing to do. If popularity ment only the amount games played then why have a poll? Could just rank popular maps by how many games played and be done with it.

Popularity, does not mean the same thing to everyone, some may like the art and look of a map, others the gameplay and some people may like a map simply because they are good at it and can gain heaps of points, some people may just have a fond memory of the games they've played on a given map.

It is maps that appeal to all these things that are going to get ahead of the pack. I don't think it's worthless at all.

Conquer Club is the manifestation that is borne out of the Classic map! Classic Map seems surprisingly underrated in this Poll ?

Hello All,
Want to throw one of those 15 votes on over toward Dawn of Ages? My dad just died of stomach cancer and he really loved conquerclub, he only played Dawn of Ages. I would love to play it in honor of him.

Blessings

I don't really understand the criticism of the whole thing. The poll is named favourite maps not most used maps. I'm also more interested in what maps people like the most than which they play the most. Which ones they play the most is not hard to figure out anyhow.

Hey e1 how about throwing 1 of those 15 votes to the Senate map in honor of my brother who died about a year ago from injuries he sufferd from a hit and run accident. My brother was homless and whenever he would come on over to my home he liked to get on my computer and play the senate map on conquer club. He said it made him feel better cause he got to mess with politics instead of them messing with him.(not exactly his words, he used stronger language) But throw one there in honor of him.

Thats because it is a god awful map. Furthermore, it looks like either a 8 year old did graphics or 1986 computer programs where used to create it. :(
