[Winners: First Post] Initech XXXI: South Asia x4
WINNERS: [player]Peter Gibbons[/player], [player]ZionT[/player], [player]mzombocracz001[/player], [player]lipsondavid[/player]
The 31st version of Initech is a Quads league-based tournament. In the Initech spirit, all games will be flat/chained/foggy. This tournament focuses on three maps in the South Asia region. I present Initech XXXI: South Asia x4!
OVERVIEW
66-game, 2-round, 3-map tournament. Each team will play 4 other teams on each of the 3 tournament maps. Every team will play 12 games, with the finalists playing an additional 3.
ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
Premium only, sorry. You'll need more than 4 games open at all times.
RULES & MAPS
All games will be Quadruples, Automatic, Sequential, Chained, Flat Rate, Foggy.
Thailand, Indochina and Indian Empire will be the maps used throughout the tournament
FORMAT
This is a two-round, round-robin tournament with 10 teams. The tournament will be divided into two groups of 5. Each team plays 12 games (3 games vs. every other team in its group). The group winners advance to the finals where they will contest a best-of-three championship series to determine the tournament winner.
TIEBREAKERS
In the event that two teams tie for first place in their group, the tiebreaker will be the result of the 3 games played against each other during the group.
In the event that multiple teams tie for first place in a group, the first tiebreaker will be total wins among the tied teams in games where they played each other. If that fails to produce a champion, but narrows things down to two teams, we would then revert to the tiebreaker above.
In the unlikely event that 5 teams finish 6-6 in one group, the team that achieved its six wins in the fewest number of rounds will be declared group winner. If that tiebreaker fails to produce a winner, then a head-to-head game will be played on the Indochina map.

Okay that's 10 teams. Groups are drawn. Let me get game privileges and then I'll start to get the invites out.

All Group A games sent. That's 240 invites out. Will start work on Group B tomorrow.

Re: Initech XXXI: South Asia x4 [FULL]
It has been brought to my attention that the created Group B games (about 15 of them have started) are not foggy. A mistake such as forgetting to check the "yes" box snowballs when you are creating 30 games.
As the invites are out and games have started, I'm making an executive decision. Group B will be sunny. If anyone objects, let me know. But I figure it's better than the alternative (which is playing a bunch of games out as exhibitions and creating new ones, thereby doubling some players' game load). Fog really only affects the Thailand map greatly in Quads, anyway. Sorry for the error and good luck in the tournament.
Finals will remain foggy.

Re: Initech XXXI: South Asia x4 [FULL]
Well, since Tin Trumpet's team is undefeated still, the worst they can finish is 7-5. All other teams have at least 5 losses in their group and they hold the tiebreaker, so they advance from Group B.
My team has advanced from a hard-fought Group A.
Finals will be sent shortly. Remember, per the above post, that Group B was inadvertently contested without fog. The finals will have fog, per the original tournament rules.

Re: Initech XXXI: South Asia x4 [FULL]
With the ending of the Indian Empire map, we are able to declare a champion. I'm pleased to say that my team--with ZionT, mzomboracz001 and lipsondavid--has defeated the Group B winners of Tin Trumpet, hambone, aspalm and Bigroo4601. I can't take any credit, as I was carried by the three Initech all-stars to this victory.
Congrats to Tin Trumpet's team, who had an impressive domination of their first round group, where they only lost 1 out of 12 matches.
Thanks to all who played and good luck to everyone in future Initechs.
