Any martial artists here?

Post by CrazyAnglican »

I met my wife in an Aikido class. She threw me across the room and I thought "This is the girl for me". I'm a Taekwondo and Karate guy. No idea how to fall gracefully :)

What type of self defense are you interested in? Have you taken it before?

Great story! This one guy at work told me he actually got beat up in a sandbox when he was around 6 yrs. old by the girl who eventually became his wife. They had almost totally forgotten about it until she told him the story and they both eventually figured out that it was both of them.

I've taken style karate since I was 7. Our variation actually covers more than one version of karate. It turned into a good way to deal with my frustration after the incident I had when I was 13. I don't want to go over the incident but my parents made me go to a psych to help me deal with my anger afterwards.

Hey we're neighbors .... almost. I'm over in Carrollton. Yeah it definitely helps you deal with stress. My wife occasionally tells "Go to Karate. you're starting to stress me out" TO which I reply "Thank you, I believe I will"

Judo, 1 year no belts, Kenpo, 3 yrs hated it, no belts, Then I got in Sambo, thats the shit you need to defend yourself s.xkitten, classes are in our everyday clothes with your shoes on, and the teacher teaches mainly how to break wrists and elbows. one hit, and the fight is over. and he taught techniques on how to take on multiple people at once, the class was 3 quarters female, and everyone one of them could kick my ass.

we'll see...my problem is that i can't leave the house without an escort now...my parents are more freaked out then i am...my psych person says that them freaking out is stressing me out more, which it is, but they just reply with an "i love her, i'm not going to let her be alone"...maybe i can talk a friend of mine into it...*sigh* i wish i never dated that stupid asshole...

thanks for the recommendation though

I'm currently blue sash in Ming Quan, and i stopped doing Taijiquan last year.

I started martial arts when i came to this country because i used to do it as a kid, then i did Karate, Taijiquan, and a little Lau Gar (couple of months.

Kendo is perhaps the most fun, interesting, informative, and disciplined thing I have personally ever done...

Iaido was my specialty...
