IP checking
I'm wondering how a case like this: viewtopic.php?f=239&t=161315&view=unread#unread where someone has 13 accounts goes unnoticed. Does the site not have a simple IP checker to alert the MH team when people sign up. It seems they should have been busted before by the sheer obviousness of having 13 accounts with the same IP address.

Re: IP checking
It's quite simple actually to hide your IP address. Also, it's possible for different people (such as a school or a hotel) to use the same IP.
Re: IP checking
So is that a yes or no on the site not having a simple IP checking type thing
I understand in the case of schools for example people might have the same IP, but it should at least be brought to the MH team attention when an absurd amount of accounts are using the same IP address. 10+ seems like a lot, I'm not sure how many CC users there are total but to have 10, or 15 using the same IP all the time is probably a rare event?
I understand people play at work together too which would cause the same IP. I'm not saying its a guilty verdict but I think if an IP is being used by 10+ accounts it should bring it to the MH team attention so they could take a quick look at it and dismiss or further evaluate. Or whatever the magic number may be, maybe 12, maybe 15, maybe 20

Re: IP checking
Yes they have automated ways of detecting multi's, yes, they are not foolproof. No, specifics are not going to be given.

I don't want specifics. I was just wondering if there was something in place because to have 10-20 accounts seems like it should get caught before someone playing them figures it out.
Thanks for the reply

Hi
I was wondering the same thing, because of the way this works i quite often log on and have my go at friends houses. Although i try to err on the side of people who are unlikely to want to play this i do wonder what may happen if they see the game and decide they want to play themselves.

That is not allowed. So you better be carefull with your password, if someone else use's it, it is your account that gets hurt.

I think he is just saying he plays from other people's houses? That's within the rules isn't it?

Yes, you are allowed to play from other locations. But it is only supposed to be YOU.

What simhatus meant is that he takes his turn at friends houses once in a while. He is worried that his friend will see CC in the history on the comp and join CC as well. Then it would like like there is 2 accounts on one IP. Thus looking like multi accounts.

About the rules
15. Can more than one person play from the same computer?
The short answer is yes. Our Multi Hunters are pretty good at distinguishing roommates & family members from people with multiple accounts. However, some members prefer playing only in team games with people from the same computer to avoid accusations of cheating.

Yet be afraid, my wife constantly gripes and states her hatred towards my conquerclub (aka wifehater< what she says cc name should be) addiction. So i believe last year some time i told her if she were to play 50 games i would give up the
speed binges and keep my game count below 15. Well she didn't want to do much thinking while she played so I explained what i would be doing in the early games. By the time she had 20 games in her account was locked and my premium stripped until i filed an e-ticket. A huge deal maybe not(Unless you and a buddy are in need of a fix>some doubs speed games) but considering in a game she was recently in she had made reference of me,
http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?gam ... full_log=Y <> 2010-01-25 07:51:05 - courtshammer: thank you gg all ( I did get pointers from my husband though, beeps )
I couldn't understand how my premium could be taken albeit for a short time over an obvious situation other than being multi's. Anyhow just saying its not simple NOTHING is in the world of CC check out some forums.
If conquerclub were a person i would tell it to swim in a pool filled with gas and play with roman candles.

Re: IP checking
hunters are good, it did not said infallible. Still, i am glad to hear that the misunderstanding was resolved. this is also why it would be a bad idea to block everybody from using the same ip adress. thanks for bringing it forward
Re: IP checking
It's also a good idea to send to file an e-ticket (located on the help page) if you are starting an account from the same IP address as another player. That can help avoid misunderstandings like the one previously cited.

There is no fog rule and I am no gentleman.

Re: IP checking
Hunters aren't perfect, and if they were to believe every person that says the two accounts are husband and wife, well, I bet a lot more multi's would get away.

True that!!
My wife ([player]cardinal.baby[/player]) hardly ever plays and when she does it is only against me. And that's after I beg for a while. (Of course, ever since I made her play a Manual, Freestyle, Random game, she hasn't played...) So, I definitely messaged the C&A mods when she started playing because I didn't want booted. I know that [player]happyfeet[/player] did the same when his wife ([player]dman007[/player]) started playing. I'm not sure what is more appropriate (probably an e-ticket), but we just messaged the mods.
Re: IP checking
Yeah maybe me contacting them would have been in line, however taking my premium(for a short time) before talking to or investigating are just some of the wrong moves you need be worried about when using computer of another member.

Their investigations are all done using the tools the multi hunters have at their disposal (which the rest of us will never get to know about). They rarely involve actual discussions with the person who has been accused because of course every person will automatically come up with a story to say that they are not a multi, whether the story is true or not. It's always best to tell the hunters ahead of time if someone else could possibly be seen as a multi of you, that way they can take that statement into consideration when interpreting their data. Otherwise you get situations like your case: having to go in after the fact and explain your situation.
