NYC Marathon [Winner: chejodavila]
CHANGES TO THE ORIGINAL FORMAT ARE IN BOLD
Every round you survive is another step toward the finish line.
Minimum of 18 players, maximum of ???
NYC
Automatic
Sequential
Flat Rate
Chained
Sunny
30 Round Limit
For the first leg, runners will be randomly divided into packs of 6 and will compete in a 6-player terminator game on the NYC map (Group sizes may be smaller depending on the number of entrants.)
For every round that they play they will get credit for 1/10th of a mile. Once they are eliminated from the game, they are done for that leg of the race (ex:if they are eliminated in round 16 they get credit for 1.6 miles).
The winning runner is credited with 3 miles, plus he receives a 1/10th of a mile bonus for every round less than 30 that the game ends. (ex: if the game ends in round 24 he would get 3 miles for the win plus .6 miles for winning six rounds early)
At the completion of each leg, runners will be ranked according to their mileage and placed into new packs of 6, based on their rankings, for the next leg of the race.
First runner to reach 26.2 miles (262 rounds) wins.
If more than one player achieves 26.2 miles after the same leg, the runner with more cumulative miles will be declared the winner. If a tie still exists, the runners will compete in a final sprint game with a 20 round limit, winner at the end of 20 rounds is declared winner of the marathon.
***Intentionally prolonging games to inflate round totals will get you kicked out of the race***

Re: NYC Marathon
- Groupings for Stage 1 are done. Games will be sent out once I get tournament privileges
- Stage 1 games (i screwed up and put group 1 in the group 5 game, and 4 in 2, and vice versa. doesn't affect anything though)
- Stage 2 games (runners that were tied with the same mileage were arranged randomly)
- NOTE: all games will now be escalating spoils!
- Stage 3 games
- Stage 4 games
- Stage 5 games
- Stage 6 games

30 Round Limit
For the first leg, runners will be randomly divided into packs of 6 and will compete in a 6-player standard game on the NYC map (Group sizes may be smaller depending on the number of entrants.)
For every round that they play they will get credit for 1/10th of a mile. Once they are eliminated from the game, they are done for that leg of the race (ex:if they are eliminated in round 16 they get credit for 1.6 miles).
The winning runner is credited with 3 miles regardless of what round the game ends.
At the completion of each leg, runners will be ranked according to their mileage and placed into new packs of 6, based on their rankings, for the next leg of the race.

Forgive me for butting in, but I honestly don't see this working. If everyone is credited for every round they survive, that creates and incentive for people to play as conservatively as possible. That makes it quite likely that a lot of your games will go to the round limit, and a lot of people will be tied for the lead. Sure, you have a rule against intentionally prolonging the game, but just ask the C&A mods how easy it is to prove an accusation like that. Unless someone is dumb enough to announce in chat that he's deliberately prolonging the game, it's almost impossible to distinguish between deliberate delays and mere ultra-cautious play.
I'm not trying to be an a-hole here, just thought I'd bring it to your attention that this could end badly. I'm all in favour of creative new themes like this.

Re: NYC Marathon [9/???]
That is definitely a valid concern.
What if the winner gets bonus for winning the game early.
1/10 of a mile for every round under 30 so if he wins in the 18th round he gets 3 miles for winning + 1.2 miles because he finished 12 rounds early?

Re: NYC Marathon [10/???] minor format changes
please see the OP for some changes to the original format of the tournament...
1 - the games will now be terminator instead of standard
2 - the winner of each games gets a bonus for winning before round 30
if you do not like the changes and would like to be removed from the player list please let me know
