The decorations may be kitschy, but at least the map projection looks right. That old map was so warped, and so many of the entries looked like tracings of it.

There is only 1 thing that I think I really need to say ...

Look at the poll result:

Code: Select all

MAP1 ..... 27  ..... 8%
MAP2 ..... 60  ..... 17%
MAP3 ..... 173 ..... 48%
MAP4 ..... 4   ..... 1%
MAP5 ..... 28  ..... 8%
MAP6 ..... 24  ..... 7%
MAP7 ..... 42  ..... 12%

Just looking at the maps, it's so damn wondering me how the hell MAP2 could get 60 votes and MAP7 could get 42 votes while MAP1 and MAP6 just got 27/24 votes ...

Is this really fair? MAP2 kinda makes me feel it is drawn by Windows Paint in many phases and MAP7 also has kinda a weak performance ...

Just added the names and here is poll results from another point of view:

Code: Select all

DiM         ..... 27  ..... 8%
Bruceswar   ..... 60  ..... 17%
natty dread ..... 173 ..... 48%
noddaclue   ..... 4   ..... 1%
Tisha       ..... 28  ..... 8%
samuelc812  ..... 24  ..... 7%
CJ Lues     ..... 42  ..... 12%

MAP3 was a rally nice and great job and got what it deserved, no doubt, and MAP4 was really bad so got a few votes, MAP5 was a good one and got what it deserved too, but how did MAP2 and 7 get those votes???

I completely feel that the votes aren't fair and some people use kinda unfair actions to get votes in these contests ...

I already had a such feeling in other contests that I was in or like this one I was not in them, and this is really bothering me that these contests aren't going fair at all ...

I really would love to see some changes in future contests ...

O:)

MAP2 and MAP7 may have appealed to some because they most closely resemble the current map, and there were some thematic elements in each which might have drawn some votes.

it's really easy to influence public polls even when they're supposed to be anonymous. it has been done in the past, there was proof of the results being influenced and nothing was done about it. i'm not pointing fingers at anybody, i'm just saying it's been done before and it is possible.
anyway public polls are an awful idea and i've always fought for a change. the jury system is a step in the right direction. now all we need is to take out the poll from the equation and keep only the jury.

btw i would have ranked the maps like this:

Code: Select all

1. natty dread ..... 173 ..... 48%
2. Tisha       ..... 28  ..... 8%
3. DiM         ..... 27  ..... 8%
4. samuelc812  ..... 24  ..... 7%
5. Bruceswar   ..... 60  ..... 17%
6. CJ Lues     ..... 42  ..... 12%
7. noddaclue   ..... 4   ..... 1%

so aside from the best and the worst everything else changes.

Didn't see what map won until now. I'm glad we ended up with this map! Would be intersting to know the final score. How close was it? I couldn't find a summation of the jury votes anywhere.
