The only thing I dislike about Luxembourg is the size of it. The small could easily become the large map with an even smaller small map produced.

In fact, a lot of the maps that are small could have this done.

Doodle Earth
Cyprus
San Marino
Most of the USA map pack

And maybe a few more.

That would be a good idea. It might make playing on a phone a more pleasant experience. (I presume that most tablets have enough pixels that scrolling is not necessary.)

The Island of Doom fits into this category most categorically.

It clearly has some very original/interesting gameplay, but even the small version won't fit on my screen. It's the sheer distance between each region which makes the map this way, but what can you do ? Otherwise it's fine.

Complain, bitch, moan, grow angry, throw a hissy, pull all suport from the maps you like, threaten to quit the site if you do not get your way. Lots of things really, but none very constructive unless you get into the threads early.

Of the maps you mentioned I only agree with you on Discworld, Extreme global warming, Montreal and Tamriel. I'm okay with the others staying as they are. However there are a couple of other maps I think are in desperate need of a rewamp.

Africa
Rail USA
Mongol Empire
Midkemdil
Land And Sea
Macedonia
Gilgamesh
Crosswords
Conquer Man
Berlin 1961
AoG for President of the World!!
I promise he will put George W. Bush to shame!

Doodle Earth is not supposed to be graphically mastered...it's a doodle.

What's wrong with the USA Map Pack?

ok got it in the right thread now--

---
I have tried to stay away from commenting in this thread because I think I have too much to say on this...

But for the love of god, Berlin map is on of the most graphically pleasing and deepest in game play maps on the game. When Oaktown stopepd making maps we lost a lot here. The guy could make a fun fun fun fun beautiful make without making the player resort to studying the rules for hours jsut to figure out how to make the heiroglyphics.

If you are going to pick on one of his maps, probably Chinese checkers is one of his weakest (heck im not even sure if he made that one).

Berlin? Omg it is a joy to play. And is incredible in its simplistic beauty.

----

Edit - and what is that tribal florida map? good god.

yeah, that map is really nice, don't touch it! [-X

But this thing make really clear a point, that a part for few maps that have real weak points or that were developed long time ago, the criteria to decide if a map needs a revamp or not, mostly falls into a simple matter of taste.
This aspect makes really hard for us to decide when a map needs a revamp or not.
Making a short connection with the other discussions about categorization and maps the needs to be cutted, for the very same reason it's hard to find a way to categorize maps with a single criteria (personally i think that if a categorization must be set it has to be totally personalized for each user - like inbox folders to give you an example) or decide if a map needs to be cutted or replaced. Even if to someone a map is really unpopular or have few followers, it's always really hard to find out how everyone's brain works and the direction to take to satisfy your customers. A map that for you is useless or ugly, for someone else is not.
