firstly, there is a country with the same name as a continent. this is problematic. i advise that you change the name of the country.

i have an issue with the borders between europe the continent and asia.
they arent that clear, between:
europe the country and arabia
germany and irakistan

the link between europe the country and egypt could be moved more to the right of egypt, now it might be confusing cos of its proximity to sarah desert

and perhaps the bonuses can be increased by one each. i know its a small map, but with the original bonuses its pretty few troops

i believe that this map will come out very nicely; good luck

ps. nice names and drawings

Do you need an excuse to have a war? I mean, who for? Can't you just say "You got lots of cash and land, but I've got a big sword, so divy up right now, chop chop."

D'y'know, I don't know if it has. Only one way to tell, I suppose.

Alright, the sudden backlash/turnaround on this map made me feel the need to actually delurk and make my first ever post just to establish that it does have more fans than the people who've been posting all along.

I think this idea is fantastic and the execution is... well, adorable. No, it's not a great work of art and doesn't look as pretty as a bunch of maps on the site or in development, but... is that really relevant? It's as good an image as can be expected for the theme... and I think the theme is fine. A playground or a puzzle might be interesting ideas, and if they get developed somewhere down the line, great, more power to whoever has the passion for them. But that's not ever what this map has been about. I look at this map and I imagine a couple off kids playing with sidewalk chalk on a summer afternoon, playing 'Wisk' (cutesy spelling intended) in the big, clumsy world they drew with armies of fisher price people and weebles. All innocence and smiles and completely ignoring the fact that they're, you know, taking over the world.

Would I play this map nonstop? No. Would I spend a lazy sunday afternoon playing a very quick RT game on it, or would I join an occasional small sequential game that would actually finish in less than a weeks time? Hell yes. I love the idea of a small map, and I love the idea of THIS small map.

Playing this map would make me smile and my inner brat would bounce up and down for joy. If it gets derailed and converted into somehting different because some people can't get their minds around the idea of this map, either in size or execution, then that's a damn shame.

Just my (considerably more than) two cents.

Oh, yeah, and also- if this map does stick around... well, I was a fan of the 'small world' name, but Doodle Earth is great too. World 0.5 is funny as hell, but a bit more sophisticated a joke than the theme of this map calls for.

Well a poll is a good idea to have an indication of what the people think but it's just that. For example Qwert in his Eastern Front map polled 63% in favour that his map was finished but it's still lying there.

At the end of the day the same metre of judgement must be applied to all the maps in the foundry because this is what makes the foundry process fair...or at least that's how I think it's supposed to work.

I still think you should make ALL the ''a'' clearer.

And...Continue to fight for this map, soon people will realise there is much more than what they saw yet.

I think a better analogy for this map might be Wario Ware vs. Quake 4. Obviously Quake 4 is going to have fancy graphics that stomp all over Wario Ware, but they can both be fun. The graphics in Wario Ware are innovative, clean and fit perfectly within the theme.

The same goes for this map. I just went back and looked at it again (try it yourself). The creator has done a great job executing the style cleanly and without mucking it up with anything too silly.

If the argument is just "it's too small" or "it's too easy to make"- well that's not really fair. It's supposed to be small (and who on the negative side has playtested it?), and I doubt many could execute the style as well as Dimwit has- so I wouldn't say it's too easy to make either.

On the other hand, there have been other maps that had majority approval and did get to final forge. I'm not saying that that should be done immediately here, I'm just saying that whatever kept qwert's map from being completed isn't necessarily true for this map as well -- I don't know what it is, but I'd gladly learn from it so it doesn't happen to me.

67% [ 33 ]
Much -- keep improving it on the same track
10% [ 5 ]
Change the theme -- something a bit different
0% [ 0 ]
Change the theme -- something VERY different
4% [ 2 ]
Much -- change everything but the smallness
6% [ 3 ]
Not much -- do us all a favor and scrap it.

So other than the 'a's and the 'la' in Australia being more clear...what else is there to do on this map before it enters final forge Andy?

The poll indicates sufficient popularity, I would have thought, to overcome the vocal minority's objections of earlier in the thread.

The only thing that bothers me is "Iceland". Call it something like "Cold" or "North".

There are plenty of places that could be called "Cold" or "North"

There are also plenty of placed that could be "Russia" or "More Russia". I jsut figured since kids generally forget the word "Scandanavia" they won't call it iceland. Go for some crazy misspelling, like swedenavia
