I can agree with that. First two seasons are still the best. Third season was a bit of a disappointment. Fourth was good. Fifth could have been stellar but just felt a bit disjointed at times. Sixth was also good. I guess if I had to rank them best to worst

2. 1st Season (Ice truck killer is still my favorite villain)

I liked the third season more than most people, but it was hard to follow Seasons 1 and 2. Season 4 was excellent as well and I'd have to make Trinity my favorite killer.

I didn't like Julia Stiles at all in Season 5, as an actress and a character. The story was alright, but I wasn't feeling the dynamic between her and Dexter. I thought they were starting to stretch it quite a bit with the way Dexter balanced his RL and serial killing too (but I don't go into detail with that in case others are going to watch it).
