Welcome to another installment of the WWW: tournament series from [player]GhoStedar[/player]!
I decided to hold a tournament to determine that age old question: who would win?
This installment will reignite the fierce rivalry of North America and pit the polite Canadians against the proud Americans!
Over the past few months, the Canadian government has been commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and will continue to do so for the next three years until the 200th anniversary of the war's end. Commonly remembered by Americans as a second chance for the USA to lay a whoopin' on Britain, in Canada, it is remembered as the second time the Canucks had to lay a smack-down on the Yankees. The War of 1812 was only a starting point for my thoughts and I hope to return to this at a later date. Instead, I decided to start from the beginning of our proud and varied rivalry with this tournament.
Regardless of whether one sees this as a positive or a negative, the American War of Independence resulted in the birth of one of the most powerful nations the world has ever seen. What people don't remember is that this "Big Brother" of the world tried to destroy his modern day best friend in his fight for survival. Luckily, "Big Brother" underestimated the strength of the Habitants and he was beaten back across the Great Lakes in the first military victory Canada ever had.
When signing up, state whether you want to serve with the Canadian or American armies. I am also taking suggestions for future tournament combatants.
Stage One: This will be used to seed the commanders within their own armies. There will be six, eight-man free-for-alls; three for the Canadians and three for the Americans. These games will seed each player from 1-8 in rank for the coming battle with the enemy.
The scoring of the games will be as follows:
- First: 10 points
- Second: 8 points
- Third: 6 points
- Fourth: 4 points
- Fifth: 3 points
- Sixth: 2 points
- Seventh: 1 point
- Eighth: 0 points
Stage Two: This is where all the bragging rights can be earned for you and your nation. The Canucks will be paired up with the Yankees in a 1v1, best of three elimination round. The higher ranked commander will have the home field advantage in two of the three matches.
The parings will be:
- #1 vs. #8
- #2 vs. #7
- #3 vs. #6
- #4 vs. #5
- #5 vs. #4
- #6 vs. #3
- #7 vs. #2
- #8 vs. #1
Once eliminations are made, the warriors left standing will be paired up with the next enemy commander until only one team remains standing.

Stage Three: The remaining commanders of the nation left standing will be placed in a final, winner-takes-all battle royale on their home map; 'nuff said.

Map Settings: Instead of focusing on the area around the Great Lakes where this battle between Canada and the USA was fought, I will simply open this up as a nationwide rivalry with the Canada and USA maps. The settings will be Standard game play, Manual troop deployment, Freestyle battle, Flat Rate spoils, Chained reinforcements, Fog of War and No Trench. There will be a 30 round limit on all matches and each commander has 24 hours to reply to invites and report to his post.

Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie while seeding positions, a single higher finish will be the tie breaker. (Someone who has a fourth, fifth, and sixth place record will seed higher than one with three fifth place finishes even though they both have nine points.)
Should a tie remain, the player with the higher rank score will finish with the higher seed.
Should the tie still remain, the seeding between the players will be randomly decided.
