I think both Linux and Apple are for work purposes

I have heard quite a lot of bad reviews about Vista so I steered clear of it.
Whats your thoughts on Vista, is it better/worse than XP?
It's better than XP, but not in as big a way as XP was better than its predecessor.
I don't think it's worth upgrading on an existing machine, but when you get a new PC then I'd certainly go for Vista.
The biggest problem is that it's quite demanding on system resources just on its own, it'll be a year or so before entry level new PCs will be comfortable with it.

What? But you get to play the KICKASS version of Halo 2! An average 4 year old Xbox game! That was clearly too demanding for XP, and makes FULL use of DX10's advanced features, not including optimisation for keyboard and mouse, or high-res textures or improved graphics, or improved sound, or a PC focused online multiplayer, but apart from that, ooh, lots. (nb: sarcasm)

You did get that I was being sarcastic, right? Am I missing your sarcasm now?
It's a 4 year old console port! It doesn't even look as good as Half Life 2! It's optimised for a damn gamepad!
I couldn't believe the roughness of the graphics. Or that MS seriously thought anyone would buy Vista just to play it.

I bought a new machine for Vista (admittedly its ridiculously overpowered) and have had nothing but joy from my Vista experience... It's super from all aspects as far as I'm concerned though as with any OS there is a little bit of a transition whilst you get used to what (which to the average user is not actually very much) has changed... and besides you can play with Aero windows effects when your on the phone to someone boring so all round thumbs up for Vista...
I use Windows for everything which is really only work and pleasure and the lines are blurred there for me anyway... Nothing wrong with Linux but really I mean really who wants to get involved in all that greasy haired open source milarkey, Suse is OK I suppose but I want compatibility and out of the box happiness...
Macs are for people who care more what the box their computer is in looks like than what it does... don't come telling me the hardware is better cos its the same components inside that fanyc plastic shell, and don't go telling me the OS is better cause its just *nix with a fancy skin and you have to drop to the very hidden command line to do anything vaguely technical with it...
[insert some poncey mac user whining about superior performance for music editing blah blah 10 years out of date bullshit etc]
... I used to use exclusively Mac and *nix and was fully subscribed to the "I hate Bill" club with a lifetime membership... then I grew up!

I'm running the latest GFY interface here; it's great, you can get loads of plugins online that let you run QFT and ROFL applications without having to switch operating platforms.
