Re: BOB 5.2.8

Post by sempaispellcheck »

Just updated BOB, and for some of my games - not all - it is taking forever to process the log.
Game 13499684 and Game 13499647 are fine, but Game 13499673 and Game 13492431 are not working.
Any idea what could be causing this?

Not sure what's wrong with the hover for cards, I did a test-game against a bot and the territories lighted up correctly. So I would like some more detail there.
And I think it's the jquery-version I took that doesn't work with older browsers, apparently not with FF 3.6.

Flat rate estimated spoils are working again! Yay! Thanks. :)

Not seeing any issues with the mentioned games (either chrome or FF), and I shouldn't have hit anything that could explain the log taking longer to parse, only strange thing is correcting the bonusses which could have a bug in some setting I don't have on. Will check some variants.

After some check, it seems like it was an issue that occurred earlier, made the solve of that a bit more robust.

Update doesn't seem to have changed anything, unfortunately.

Yeah, looking into it, chrome doesn't have the issue.

I'm thinking it was the text map that still contained a bug. Raised the number again, maybe should have switched to 5.3 earlier.

I guess so - it's working now.

Everything is working perfectly for me, Skerkaner, except for the hover over for cards still. This in only in poly games. Fine everywhere else. Thx again for the amazing work! So much better on poly games now. =)

Ok, it's possible that for chrome something has to happen after january 1st, see http://blog.chromium.org/2013/11/protec ... cious.html
It makes some things easier, but it's harder to keep the same code base for chrome and Firefox that way.

A small note of a minor bug. Tribal War - Ancient Israel (foggy) - Bob reads players as starting with 15 territories, yet they only start with 14. As I said, only minor :)

Thanks for fixing the color codes.

UNFORTUNATELY, right after you fixed it they went and changed the color codes to make them all "narrow" letters. I.E. "m" was changed to "a".

It's probably a simple update, right?

Your computer/OS isn't important, it comes down to whichever internet browser you're running. AFAIK, it works with Chrome and Firefox.

Oops, Game menu always hidden

Post by JDLH »

This is odd. This morning, BOB was temporarily hiding the game menu (in the left column of most pages) for me. When I moused over the left edge of the window, the game menu would reappear. Now, the menu is hidden, and no amount of mousing makes it appear. I see this behaviour both within games and at the "My Games" page.

I think I clicked on the Hide Menu options at about the time the menu disappeared. I remember there was a "hide menu" item, with entries like "Off", "Game", "Main" or some such. Surely there was not an option "Hide everywhere and never see the game menu again", was there?

In the interest of a workaround, is there a way to delete my BOB options and have BOB restore them to defaults? I tried removing and reinstalling BOB, but that didn't change the behaviour.

If I turn off BOB in Greasemonkey, or have Bob removed, the game menu appears in all pages... but I have no way to use BOB.
I'm using FireFox on Mac OS X 10.5.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

An additional observation: it looks to me like the UI chrome of the Conquer Club pages has changed in the last day. Certainly the login UI is laid out differently. It's perhaps possible that something changed in the HTML structure of the site which break's BOB's auto-reveal of the game menu. If I'm right, then until BOB is updated to match the change in the site, then "Hide Menu: ON" is an unhelpful choice.

I fixed my problem via a programmer's workaround. I used a web developer's toolbar to "Disable all [CSS] Styles". Then I used shift-Reload to get the page again. The game menu appeared, drawn crudely. I was able to change the "Hide Menu:" setting in the BOB menu to "Off". Then I turned off "Disable all [CSS] Styles". Then I used shift-Reload to get the page again. The page was drawn with its normal appearance, but the game menu was now visible.

Hmm, not sure what changed exactly (just tried out the hide-thing, seems to work for me), so I'll just check any incoming reports. probably some things fell over.

Hey, sorry to nag you about such a great script, but the colors in snaps (running in Chrome) have been different from the true player colors for a while now, and when comparing past snaps with current play it's sometimes just a bit disconcerting - less smooth of a transition than it was before. In an 8-player game, green and gray are affected, and I'm not sure about 12. So in a 2-player game with a lot going on that green color pop can make it hard to see changes without surveying everything one piece at a time.

Regardless of that, great work on this, I really appreciate it. Carry on the good fight!

First of all,

Great tool! Thanks for spending the time to make it and enhance it.

I'm having a bit of an issue right now. All of a sudden in the last month, I no longer have the option to take snaps in chat in team games.

I haven't uninstalled/reinstalled though.

In Game 13611623, both teams have messed up initial snaps, showing neutral 4's apparently randomly. I have very limited experience with manual deployment, and I don't think I've ever played a game before with random/manual/trench/parachute/sunny as the settings. Is this a known bug, or is there a new problem here? Thank you; and much =D> =D> =D> for having BOB available!
