This is the first of a Rags to Riches themed series of tournaments.
The King is Dead!!!
There are no heirs, only 32 equally qualified Lords in the local Peasant’s Court, the court of the counties and the common people. The council to appoint the new King has convened, and they will judge your ability to keep the nation safe based on the power you command on the battlefield, and your ability to keep your own army in line.
Conquer the other Lords, make them your Vassals, and have them fight for your army!
You will need to submit a “home” map and settings for the tournament, on which you may or may not play (depending again on gameplay and performance *see round information for details) (No freestyle, manual, speed, or any gargantuan maps: they will be used as 1v1 maps if at all, so keep that in mind)
The basic block and idea of this tournament revolves on the idea of lords and vassals. The first round of the tournament the winners will be able to CHOOSE a vassal from the defeated players. Eventually the lord will accumulate a large army by defeating other lords and vassals. The lord will lead doubles, trips and Quad games. The lord and vassal are tied together for the entire tournament so choose wisely. The vassal will help the lord win. But Beware! The vassal will have many opportunities to depose his lord and make the lord his vassal instead. So plan strategically when selecting a vassal. For the vassal may help the lord win the tournament but also may defeat the lord and win the tournament for themselves!

This is basically a slightly complex double elimination style tournament (but with more than just two chances). I use the “double elimination” term because there is a winner’s and a loser’s bracket. The winner’s bracket is straightforward and uncomplicated. The losers bracket gets more complicated as players drop out of the winners bracket. However, with this complex loser’s side, comes multiple opportunities to come back from the dead to win it all.
- This tournament is mixed format. It will use 1v1, doubles, triples, quads, 2 assassin games, and possibly some terminator games (depending on game play)
- Not all players will play all types of games, once again it is dependent on gameplay.
- You will sign up individually and the gameplay and your performance will determine the formation of teams. (Explained later on in the Round information sections and Lords and Vassals section)
- This tournament will be relatively long with at least 70+ games, and only some can be played simultaneously (because of some bracket-style play). So please only sign up if you can handle the game load over a long period of time, possibly a couple of months. I will also need at least 4 reserves.
- Freemiums welcome, 3 spots open at any given time please.
- See the second Post for a detail of the games to be played, and a more straightforward view of the games.

Round 1: Head to the Palace
A letter from the council to each of the Peasant Lords:
You are one of the few chosen Lords to vie for the crown. There are three other Lords in your immediate area that have an equal claim on the throne. Only one Lord from your province can be admitted into the Baron’s Court. Subjugate the upstart Lords and choose one to be your Vassal and come to the Baron’s Court to compete for the crown!
8x 4 player games(Randomly placed) played on Feudal Epic. Sequential, Auto, foggy, flat rate, 30 rounds
Winner of this game chooses a player from the three beaten Lords to become their Vassal. (Instructions for the winner: Please write the name of the player you wish to make your Vassal in the Game Chat at the end of the game so I know who you have chosen to be your Vassal) The Vassal will fight alongside the Lord in the rounds to come. *see note Lords and Vassals. The winners of this game (8 Lords and their Vassals (16 in all) move directly to the Baron’s Court and Round 2) All other 16 players will head back to the provinces and compete in the Peasant’s Court.
BARON’S COURT
Round 2: Perilous Roads
Assassination Attempt! ***The contemptuous Vassal that had been so rightly subjugated for his insolence and pride has risen up against the Lord on the way to the Baron’s Court!!!*** The Lord is still the Lord and has the advantage over his perfidious cur! Therefore, the battle will take place on the Lord’s home map.
8 individual 1v1 games (1 per Lord and Vassal) played on Baron Lord’s home map. 1 game: winner becomes or maintains the title of Lord and the Loser becomes the Vassal. Both Lord and Vassal continue together to the Baron’s Court.
Round 3: Building an Army
Letter from the council:
Congratulations and Welcome to the Baron’s Court. You are one of the elite 8 Lords to make it to this court. The new King will assuredly be named from this prestigious group! We will test your mettle in battle in a variety of ways and commanding armies of differing size. First you will defeat one of the other Baron Lords and their Vassals to send them back to the Peasant’s Court where they rightly belong!
4x doubles games.
The winning Baron Lord will then choose one of the losing Baron Lord’s team to become a Vassal. The winning Lord will end up with two Vassals after this. Note: The winning Lord cannot choose both defeated players. They MUST keep the original Vassal of choice. Lords and Vassals are bound to each other throughout the tournament.)
The Non-Vassal losers (1 not chosen from each losing team) will head back to the Peasant’s Court to fight another day.
Round 4: Vassals' Revenge
Rebellion!!! It sure is hard to keep those new Vassals in line!
Each Lord will have 2 x 1v1 games one against each Vassal. The Lord still has the advantage. In order to depose the current Lord, BOTH Vassals need to beat the Lord on his home map. (The further the tournament goes the harder it is to depose the Lord as he gains power and prestige)
If either Vassal loses the 1v1 game against the Lord then the Lord remains the Lord.
If BOTH Vassals WIN then the Vassals play a 1v1 game on the British Isles Map. The winner of that game then becomes the Lord.
Round 5: Gathering Strength
Letter from the council:
You have vanquished your adversaries and now only 4 Baron Lords remain! You command a larger army now and must fight on a larger scale. Take down another Baron Lord to prove your worth to us, and make a Vassal of one of his retinue to teach him a lesson he will not soon forget!
Triples games
Again the Winning Lord will choose 1 of the 3 on the defeated team to join his army and become a Vassal. This will send 2 down to the Peasant’s Court for each game. Again same rules apply: The winning Baron Lord MUST keep his two Vassals, he may NOT replace any of them. They are his through thick and thin until the end. The end of this round the 2 winning Lords will have a Quad team consisting of themselves and 3 Vassals they have chosen
Round 6: Rebellion!!!
Again? Come on Vassals don’t you know who is Lord??? Well time to teach them a lesson again….or time for a regime change. Perhaps the Lord has become weak?
6x 1v1 games for each team. Each Vassal plays on the Lord’s home map twice. To depose the Lord the Vassals must win a majority of the 1v1 games. (ie. The Vassals must (combined) win 4 or more games against the Lord to depose him. Ties (3-3) go to the Lord and he maintains his power)
If the Vassal’s win, then there will be one more game: A three-way free for all on France 1789 to establish the new Lord. The winner of that game will become the new Lord and the old Lord becomes a Vassal.
Round 7: Becoming King
Letter from the council:
You have amassed an impressive army! Congratulations, but you are not alone. Defeat your Last opponent to become the King!!!
1x Quad game Winners advance and losers go to Peasant’s Court.
Congratulations you have sent the last army of the upstarts home. You are the new King! You and your army now head off from the Baron’s Court to the coveted King’s Court!
PEASANT’S COURT
Round 1a-1d: Down But Not Out
The 8 Lords and their 8 Vassals have gone to the Baron’s Court. They have won the initial battle through trickery, deceit and chicanery!!! It is not over! It will be very tough going and the 16 ambitious potentials stuck in the Peasant’s Court can never make the jump to the Baron’s Court again. However, hope springs eternal as the local Lords can battle it out amongst themselves and bide their time and gain experience until opportunity arises for a proper rebellion against the newly-crowned King himself! There are still many opportunities to dominate the Peasant’s Court and make it all the way to challenge the upstarts in the Baron’s Court who don’t deserve the throne, so steel your courage!!!
The games become complicated but I have outline them here to make it more simple to follow. Basically each player has to lose multiple times in multiple ways in order to be eliminated. Also to advance to the next round in Peasant’s Court, the players will have to win more than once.
Every player will have more than one attempt to try to become a Lord and to have a Vassal. This is the base block for the tournament.
All game in round 1 will be played on Feudal Epic. Sequential, Auto, foggy, flat rate, 30 rounds
Round 2: Local Politics
Assassination Attempt! ***The contemptuous Vassal that had been so rightly subjugated for his insolence and pride has risen up against the Lord in the Peasant’s Court!!!*** The Lord is still the Lord and has the advantage over his perfidious cur! Therefore, the battle will take place on the Lord’s home map.
1v1 games (1 per Lord and Vassal) played on Peasant Lord’s home map. 1 game: winner becomes or maintains the title of Lord and the Loser becomes the Vassal. Both Lord and Vassal continue together in the local power struggles that are the Peasant’s Court.
Round 3a-c: Scraping an Army
With your vassal firmly in line, you must go up against the other Lords lurking around the Peasant’s Court. Together with your vassal, trounce the unworthy lords. But beware! All the Lords down in this court are resilient and will take more than one beating to vanquish. Also beware of any Lords kicked out of the Baron’s Court! They will be coming back to the Peasant’s Count with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove.
The excitement and competition just build more here in the Peasant’s Court as the punches start to fly!

Round 4: I'm the Lord
Rebellion!!! It sure is hard to keep those new Vassals in line!
Each Lord will have 2 x 1v1 games one against each Vassal. The Lord still has the advantage. In order to depose the current Lord, BOTH Vassals need to beat the Lord on his home map. (The further the tournament goes the harder it is to depose the Lord as he gains power and prestige)
If either Vassal loses the 1v1 game against the Lord then the Lord remains the Lord.
If BOTH Vassals WIN then the Vassals play a 1v1 game on the Feudal Epic Map. The winner of that game then becomes the Lord.
Round 5: Rags to Uniforms
Now that you have a bigger army, train them to be ready when the chance presents itself for a coup. Get that army into shape by casting down the other armies in the area and absorb part of the defeated army to make you stronger!
Triples and assassin games
This is a round of many players coming to the peasant's court from the baron's. Therefore competition is steep and multiple wins are necessary. See the Game Section for specific information on the game progression.
If the Vassal’s win, then there will be one more game: A three-way free for all to establish the new Lord. The winner of that game will become the new Lord and the old Lord becomes a Vassal.
Round 7: From The Wings
Your army has finally reached its full size through conquering and dominating others. However there is another army in the Peasant’s Court that is of the same size. Defeat it and slay them all!
Best of 3 Quad Game, loser is out.
As soon as you defeated the last army in the Peasant’s Court, over the hill marches a defeated but not destroyed army from the Baron’s Court. Conquer this last army and your time for rebellion will be at hand!
Best of 3 Quad’s Game, loser is out. Winner marches to the King’s Court.
KING’S COURT
Round 8: The King is Divinely Chosen
And the crown lowers slowly…almost on your head when a loud burst and a knocking at the Court doors! What is it? An Army from the Peasant’s Court, bloodied and experienced has come to challenge your right for the throne.
Put down these deposers….or stomp the usurpers? Can the newly-crowned king who had spent all the time in the luxurious Baron’s Court, having all the advantages in battle and the monarchy almost handed to him on a platter, fight off the Lord, back from the Peasant’s Court, who has scrapped and fought his way here through countless battles and rebellions? We shall see!
Best of 3 Quad games on
Winner maintains the crown and losers are out.
Round 9: Final Subjugation
You’ve got to be kidding me!! After all we’ve been through? Sure enough, once again when the crown is lowering onto the Lord’s blessed brow, he looks up to see his 3 Vassals standing before him. They have been with the Lord through thick and thin and seem to think they are the reason for victory. Once and for all this matter will be settled!!!!
9 x 1v1 games each Vassal plays 3 games against the Lord. The Lord’s home map advantage is gone because there are at the King’s Court now. So Map will be King’s Court. The Lord still retains the battle advantage however. The Vassals need to win a majority of the games against the Lord to have a chance to depose him. (At least 5 games)
If the Vassals win then:
Each Vassal plays 2 1v1 games against the others (6 games total) Each Vassal receives a point for each win. Then the three Vassals will play 2x3player terminator games (1 point for each termination, no points for a win) Then these points will be added up. (10 points are available total to be split among 3 players so there will be at most a tie for first (4 points for player 1, 4 for player 2, and 2 for player 3) In the case of a tie the player with the fewest points is dropped and a best of three 1v1 is played with the remaining two Vassals. The Vassal at the end of all this will be crowned King!!! All games on King’s Court in round 9
