Re: Your Favourite Way for the World to End [Phase 4]

Post by Dukasaur »

One game is still ongoing, but josko's team has won at least two games to prove themselves the leaders of THOSE ABOUT TO STING.

Cptbeefalo's team rules among the GIVE ME GLACIATION OR GIVE ME DEATH fanatics.

Hun1's team stacked this year's Nominating convention and are now the leaders of the AL GORE FAN CLUB.

And Donelladan's team has really cleaned up, or should I say dirtied up, among the DEGENERATE SOULS!

Now, as to the next step:Subject: Your Favourite Way for the World to End [Phase 4]

Dukasaur wrote:Phase 5A: The four surviving groups and the Quads teams that have emerged from them will be placed in a four team bracket. The team who collectively scored the most points in Phase 3 will get a special bonus: they will decide which team they want to face first, and thus define the bracket for all four.

Each match in the bracket will be five games: two on each team's home map, plus one map randomly chosen from among the maps of the eight groups that have been eliminated.

Looking at the Phase 3 scores of the various teams:
Group iv

B[player]donelladan[/player] 24
B[player]azak848[/player] 10
B[player]Vaicius[/player] 7
B[player]wi1bert[/player] 0
Total 41

B[player]magneto_acolyte[/player] 14

Total 38

Group vii
B Team
B[player]josko.ri[/player] 14
B[player]TeeGee[/player] 4

Total 40

A[player]swimmerdude99[/player] 20
A[player]V.J.[/player] 20
A[player]Unai[/player] 29
Total 99

Wow! Not even close. The group ix A Team led by cptbeefalo has more Phase 3 points than the next 2 teams put together.

Okay, I will let you all ponder the results and talk to your team-mates, and within 48 hours I hope cptbeefalo tells me which of the 3 other teams you want to play in the semi-final.

Looks like some of these games are starting to end. Anyone want to offer any predictions?

Looks like the winners have been decided. We are only waiting to see if the winning teams need congratulations for perfect sweeps or only partial sweeps...:)

Yup, winners are decided and in 2-3 days all games will be over. If you send games soon, we may finish it before new year's holidays.

And so the finals begin!

Two powerhouse teams that have absolutely crushed their opponents up to this point will finally meet.

The "Give Me Glaciation or Give Me Death" team is captained by cptbeefalo, a brilliant player who scored 30 points in phase 3 to take the MVP medal and earn the right to lead this team. Cptbeefalo has scored 33 kills overall in this tournament, more than any other player, and has won 13 games, a feat only equalled by his team-mate V.J. and only exceeded by his team-mate Unai, who won 14! Swimmerdude99 rounds out this team. No slouch himself, Swimmerdude has won 11 games and scored 32 kills in this tournament. Between them, these four players hold the top 3 slots for wins and the top 3 slots for kills in this tournament. They have not lost a single game since entering the team portion of the tournament.

The "Those About To Sting, Salute You!" team is captained by josko.ri, acknowledged by almost everyone as one of the great master strategists of Conquer Club, and the current reigning Conqueror. The second slot on the team is taken held by TeeGee, Chief Global Mod and therefore the highest-ranking volunteer on the site! Rounding out this team are dgz345 and honest gabe. Despite not having the spectacular numbers of beefalo's team in the individual portions of the tournament, this team also has been on fire, and has not lost a single game since the team portion of the tournament began!

I am thrilled and honoured that this tournament has attracted such a high calibre of players, and I am happy that you all made it this far! Now, you go onto the fields of combat to decide what should be the world's fate. Good luck, and may the best team win!

Wow. It's over.

154 players. 366 games. 12 months.

The killer bees rampage across the land. We can run, but we can't hide.

I would like to thank Dukasaur for running such a magnificent tournament. And I would also like to thank all of our oppononents over the course of this competition. And finally to josko, our fearless leader for showing us some of the finer details of these maps and for bringing us together as a team.

Apparently there was some misconception that there was a premium prize offered in this tournament. There was never a premium prize offered. However, it was such a grand and dramatic tournament that I've decided to reconsider and add a prize retroactively. Members of the winning team have received 6 months premium each.

Merry Christmas....:)
