Re: [Official] Morning After Tourney! (FULL)
Seeing as we had no sign-ups on Saturday, I probably should have closed this at midnight, but I was too tired to do more than take my turns last night, and haven't really gotten time to spend on here today until now.
At any rate, sign-ups for this tourney are now CLOSED.
19 teams have signed up and 2 players signed up without teammates, so putting the two wild-cards together gives us 20 teams!
This tournament will probably involve doubles games featuring 2-5 teams, and possibly some quads games as well.
I am still toying with formats, but should have something done soon.
I will keep you all posted.

Has this tourney started yet or is it just being delayed? Just wanting to make sure I'm not missing it, since I'm used to auto tournaments these days and I don't know how community run ones work.

Don't worry, you haven't missed anything.
It's been a busy week for me, but I've thought up a format, so games should be made either today or tomorrow.

Re: [Official] Morning After Tourney! (Round 1)
OK, so, I have some good news, some bad news, and some more good news.
The first bit of good news is, I have finally come up with a format for this tournament! It's a little simpler than I might have liked, but oh well.
All games will be on the Valentine's Day map.
Just for fun: spoils, reinforcements and special gameplay (fog/trench) will be determined randomly and separately for each game - and I may also decide to randomize initial troops in Rounds 2-4.
All games will be sequential and casual, and have a 30-round limit.
We have 20 teams, so:
Round 1 - 20 teams
5 4-team doubles games - the first team to be completely eliminated from each game is eliminated from the tournament.
Round 2 - 15 teams
5 3-team doubles games - the first team to be completely eliminated from each game is eliminated from the tournament.
Round 3 - 10 teams
5 2-team doubles games - losing teams are eliminated from the tournament.
Round 4 - 5 teams
2-team doubles - round robin. The team with the most wins takes the prize.
If there is a tie, the team whose wins were finished in the lowest number of rounds will take the prize.
If teams are still tied after that, they will play another round-robin.
This will continue until only one team is left.
The bad news is, there is no Red Star being awarded for this tourney. The mention of the Red Star in the announcement was based on the assumption that you would use the hearts you got for signing up for this tourney to sign up for the ToC, which you would get a Red Star for winning.
That leads me to my next bit of good news - The prize for this tournament will be a GA Medal and 3 months of premium for each member of the winning team!
And my final bit of good news - Round 1 games have been created, and invites sent!
Have fun, my little lovebirds!

A red star prize sounded a bit rich for this tourney. No worries about the mixup.
Thanks much for your part in running a great V-Day celebration!!!

Re: [Official] Morning After Tourney! (Round 1)
That's ok, you can owe me a red star when you get one.
On a more serious note, what does it mean when you say you may "randomize troops in rounds 2-4"?
Thanks again semp

Some games will have automatic initial troops, others will have manual initial troops.

Re: [Official] Morning After Tourney! (Round 1)
The Round 1 Group A game is still ongoing, but one team has been completely eliminated, so we can move on to Round 2!
Round 2 should start today or tonight.
Best of luck to those of us still in this!

Re: [Official] Morning After Tourney! (Round 1)
My apologies, everyone, but real life has thrown a bit of a wrench into the works here.
Will get Round 2 started ASAP, but no guarantees as to when that will be.

Re: [Official] Morning After Tourney! (Round 2)
It somehow slipped my mind that this map had an objective - and I put a round limit on each game without thinking of the consequences.
For games that finish before any one team is completely eliminated:
1. The team that wins the game automatically advances to the next round.
2. If only one of the losing teams has lost a player, that team will be eliminated from the tournament.
3. If multiple losing teams have each lost a player, the team with the lowest troop count (of the losing teams that have lost a player) will be eliminated from the tournament.
4. If no players have been eliminated, the losing team with the lowest troop count will be eliminated from the tournament.
5. If troop count does not break the tie, region count will be used.
6. If region count does not break the tie, the tied teams will play a doubles game with the same settings as the original game to determine which team will be eliminated from the tournament.

Been fairly busy in RL, and need someone to open the map for me.
Will make it happen as soon as I can.
