why is this a warning? There was no secret to it. It was posted in chat and then "nudged" on the wall. He even stated to reread the chat.

It is legal to write on someones wall and notify the of the game chat. If the chat is already there, then it is not a secret at all. It was already made public!

Even if it's also posted in chat, I believe you can't conduct any diplomacy on walls. The only thing you can do is say things like "check chat" or game number etc.

Saying things like:
I think it might be best to rethink your alliance.
It would be better of with me as our borders are more important together. let me know in chat.

Even when in chat isn't allowed. Under my understanding of the rules / past cases anyway.

Doesn't matter. Anything posted on a wall that may influence how someone goes about the game counts as SD. Just refrain from doing it and there won't be a problem.

I expect that willed didn't intend to violate the rules. However the rules are that any diplomatic talks should be done ONLY in game chat. thus it doesn't belong on a person's wall at all.
Unfortunately an unintentional violation is still a violation hence the warning but I don't expect willed to have any more issues from this. Petty issues or not there was a violation. It was dealt with. Willed is good enough to not get into any more issues.

Petty or not, it's against the rules. All he got was a warning, which was used to educate him on the rule to ensure he doesn't do it again and receive an actual punishment.
