good to see this map progressing

i think washed watercolor paper is the best of the lot. however, i agree with gimil that the bonus for orange should be down to 2; it has too few territories. If you want to leave it at 3, at least give one more territory

some of your circles arent really in the right place

pls use a different colour or line texture to differentiate links between countries and the link to the name. currently your line to show pulau punggol barat makes me think that there is a link to malaysia.

is it possible to put the bit about the airports with the rest of the legend?

blue continent should have 8 bonus it has an airport, alot of territories and alot of borders too.

red continent should have at least 1 more bonus, because it is connected to all the other continents AND has an airport, there needs to be a reason why people want to get it. actually i think it should have 8 bonus like blue

hope you will take my suggestions into consideration

the poll says original but you guys post otherwise. Some sort of consensus please?

ill change the bonus for orange and try to do something with the lines
what colour should the name lines be?

the airports being in the legend might be too messy and too small

blue continent might have a bonus change

red continent will not get any bonus change 8 is too much and so is 7
it has 6 territories

im working on redrawing the borders and xml now
so busy

I think you should rethink the bonuspoints.

I see that usually the key is:
1 point for each border zone plus (internal lands/3 rounded down).

Maybe(!) an additional point could be awarded if a border zone borders against 2 different coloured bonuszones (i.e. higher probability that harrassment comes from two different players as each players seek a bonuszone for himself) if that antagonising bonuszone isn't already bordering another of your bonuszone borderlands.

so

Blue west = 6 + 2/3 = 6
Yellow North = 1+ 2/3 = 1
Red Central = 4 +2/3 = 4
Lt Green North-East = 3 +1/3 = 3
Dk Green South East = 5 +2/3 = 5
Purple S Islands = 2 +5/3 = 3

i think you are mad!
i mean, the way you calculate is totally awkward.
what about surrounding territories?

im not gonna change any save for orange and maybe blue

Or you can split an extra land in the zones where there is a 2/3 divide to make it 3/3 and thus warrant the full extra bonus army;

So
Blue west another internal land dot = 6 + 3/3 = 7
Yellow North another internal land dot= 1+ 3/3 = 2
Red Centralanother internal land dot = 4 +3/3 = 5
Lt Green North-East nothing extra = 3 +1/3 = 3
Dk Green South East another internal land dot = 5 +3/3 = 6
Purple S Islands another internal land dot= 2 +6/3 = 4

No madness, just common sense

I've been using PS since V.3 and can tell you that the BEST way to learn PS is trial and error... Yes, the "edit", "undo" and "step backwards" features will become your best friend!

couple of quick suggestions -

add a route from pulau hantu - pulau sebarok

add an airport in the south of the map somewhere, even if its not technically accurate.

perhaps make the west bonus 5 instead of 6?
had i been wise, i would have seen that her simplicity cost her a fortune

My XML is done too
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/11/15/1585662/Singapore.xml

I've checked it with Jota's XML tool and Kevinc's XML map reader and it's fine.

The only thing I don't understand is why the XML tester shows the following error:

Code: Select all

Test results:

line 646: <continent> - Did not expect element continent there

Summary: 1 errors and 0 warnings detected in Singapore.xml

One more thing - I used the override feature of the XML to override the 3 airports with 4 airports, but I'm not sure if it will override all four continents named "3 airports". By right it should, according to what the random notes in the XML tutorial, but I'm just checking ;).

I don't see any uncentralised numbers, but do inform me if you see any.

I don't like your water routes. They just seem too bright to me. Maybe make then blend in a bit more (and possibly make them dotted)?

Another thing regarding the routes is that I don't like how they are the same as the two labels you have for the territories Pandan and Pulau Punggol Barat

Honestly you could probably fit the label for Pandan on the south east part of the territory. And, if you move the PPT label south, you could move the PPB label south as well and you wouldn't need the labeling lines at all (which would be a huge improvement). Also, you could move the Nee Soon label to the west a bit to give more space there.

I'm not a fan of this water. It just seems to clash with everything else on the map. It just doesn't seem to work well with the style of your land and art around it.

About the art, could you reduce the opacity on the statue a bit? (make it blend in more)

You could probably increase the size of the Singapore title text a bit.

As for your gameplay, well I think it's fine. I like the bonuses. They are all quite high, but most of the continents are tough to hold and acquire.

oo interesting i'll try that

actually, they're not the same colour, the labels are white while the routes are yellow, but i'm sure dotting the routes will help.

this might only be possible on the large map

i know, i tried the poll but people still wanted it this way hmm any suggestions on how it should be done?

yes, i like it that way, thanks a lot for giving feedback!

I think it's possible on both large and small

As long as it's close to your army circle, people will know what you mean.

edit:

Also, forgot to mention that you should move your army circles for PPT because it looks like it connects to the yellow territory there. (you might want to move PPB's circle too)

well, that was the concern initially, that people wouldnt know where the territories were, that's why i added the labels

personally i dont like them, their so ugly
