Re: Indigo League Mafia/RPG Day 1 - Full speed ahead!
Sorry folks just started a new job this week and kinda pretty much forgot about this thread in the haze of training and drinking....
Dear God there are so many pages to catch up on! Will post later today/tonight with some thoughts.

Cheers. I can get behind that.
Serbia clearly skimming now. That's a real bad instance of skimming too.

Sigh, I agree that we should not drag out D1 forever, but the cases on mitch, fircoal, and dakky don't really appeal to me. Honestly, I would be voting Nag for what I stated previously, but I reckon I'd have an uphill battle getting people behind that. I would also have to revisit the thread some more than I have done. Yes, I'm busy too. I'm going to a massive Christmas Party today, but I'll be back tomorrow (I wanted to be back yesterday, but things got in the way). I would also look at Serbia too. Serbia or Nag...neither has any votes now...great...
Also, it still seems unclear to some that I wasn't saying that Nark is a bad player, but that the people voting for him were. No one has ACTUALLY stated that he's a bad player. Sheesh.

Re: Indigo League Mafia/RPG Day 1 - Full speed ahead!
In the interest of not dragging out day 1 unvote vote mitch
The case on him is more compelling to me than the one on chu atm (but I'm still keeping my eye on nark).

And yet your vote is on mitch. Planning to attack one of us over Night 1 eh? Luckily I'm prepared for that.
Unvote, Vote madmitch
This is less me joining a bandwagon, but more me taking Fircoal's side in what's looking like the final Day 1 vote showdown (and the pressure on dakky clearly isn't going anywhere). It would be a shame to lose Fircoal's intelligent play compared to madmitch's scattergun approach to posting. It's just so all over the place that it's impossible to get any sort of reading at all.
I believe that ties up the vote on both of em' on 7.
At some point today I'm gonna re-read and see if there's anything else worth bringing up.

Post so I don't get replaced
The people wagoning on Mitch clearly don't know him. I will admit we won't lose much if he dies but it's the most uninteresting day 1 lynch ever.
...no it doesn't.
Fircoal why do you make such an excellent post on Nag and then vote for Mitch? Doesn't make sense to me.

Mandy, can I add my voice to those asking for a day 1 deadline? Doesn't have to be dramatically soon but I feel we are drifting either towards an apathy bandwagon to get it over or (worse) the game fizzling.

Yes sir, you can. You can vote "No lynch", explain you consider it preferable to an apathy bandwagon and if half or more players feel the same way, I shall be happy to accomodate.
Seriously, the whole "Make a deadline" things sounds to me like "Grampa Mandy, make us stop playing and send us to our room to study!" When I was your age, I didn't need anyone to send me to my room to study because back then we valued booklearning because the coal mine owner was just waiting for one of us to fail a grade so that he could buy him from his parents and make him dig 20 hours a day. It's easy for you kids today with your clear air and I-telephones! We had no I-telephones, no sir! My I-telephone was a pebble which I would throw on my friends' windows to call them to come out and play, after I had finished my studies. That's why I was proclaimed the Best Boy and was rewarded with 2 licks from the village's communal lump of sugar.

Deadlines help you manage the pace of the game, which is vital if you want to keep players interested, especially with 26 players. It adds impetus as well as forces people to make mistakes, which in turn provides drama and fuel and thus great mafia games are born out of what might seem unnecessarily rushed day 1s. Are you sure you can't be convinced?
Re: Indigo League Mafia/RPG Day 1 - Full speed ahead!
I'm gonna add in. This player group on cc isn't hard core. There isn't enough motivated players to keep people active or reason for people to stay active. Games with out deadlines on cc stagnant and become a cesspool of inactivity. That's the way it is.
Mandatory deadlines for the rest of the game please.

Think about it this way. Day 1 is the slowest of days and the one with the least information, making it the hardest to actually get a majority vote on anyone. Imposing a deadline helps speed up the game, keeps people interested, and you will likely not need to add a deadline for any of the other days. We've done tooons of discussion today already and we still haven't lynched anyone, simply because there's no case compelling enough to drag half the people along with it. And no case is compelling because we have the least amount of information today relative to upcoming days. Given the nature of day ones and the holidays coming up, I doubt that we'll be able to end the day anytime soon, which becomes more and more frustrating for everyone. Besides, the panic that tend to come with deadlines approaching could give us information to help us in future days.

You raise good points, but 26 players aren't gonna reach a majority, nor are they gonna reach 80 pages of discussion. That problem isn't gonna fix itself. Setting a deadline and killing the guy with the most votes is way more preferable to forcing a no lynch vote just to end the misery.

Re: Indigo League Mafia/RPG Day 1 - Full speed ahead!
I am going to vote Fircoal. I don't have much new analysis to add to the reasons why others are voting for him, but I do want us to stop D1 from stagnating.

I mean yes. I don't know him! I believe I've stated that many times before. Thusly I have to rely on what other people say. And to that there's a mixed bag. Some say that he's usually like this while other's like Dakky claim that he's acting in a way he has before when he was scum. I don't know enough to make that judgement call. However, I do know that I personally find his actions scummy. Mafia is an interesting game in that I feel like it relies a lot on meta and without some of that meta it's hard to make reads. My meta-less read of Mitch's actions are that they are scummy.
aage wrote:Fircoal why do you make such an excellent post on Nag and then vote for Mitch? Doesn't make sense to me.
Because I find them both scummy and mitch has more votes. I would certainly be willing to vote for Nag, but at some point splintering off into many sub-arguments isn't going to work out well. People are already getting tired of Day 1 and while I never want to keep other arguments from happening, it seems voting for someone with no votes isn't going to get us anywhere.
I agree that a deadline is helpful, mainly because I feel like inactivity is a real threat to killing this game. Personally I'm not a big fan of deadlines in general but with 26 people and many of them posting infrequently I feel like we might need one. If this day goes for too long the posts will just get slower and slower and that's a really bad sign. I echo what StorrZerg said. The CC Mafia group here isn't hard core. We're not posting 5 pages a day like the times of yore. Too much inactivity and the game might be in danger of keeling over, which would be unforntunate.

I vote no deadline (even if it isn't up to a vote)
Screw it. Let's break the record for Day 1 pages.

Formally request everyone to request a deadline and not contribute to the game until one is added.

Donno but guy I just called out.
He is scummy
Honestly I haven't read anything other than this page. And some of the first post .
Ask me specifically and link if you want me to comment any time soon.
Call me lazy, idc. I'll contribute if you help me a bit.
Honestly I'm fucking pissed a5 myself for accepting this game before reading the first post. So much I hate about this game setup. (And yeah I'm gonna be childish about it)

To make it easier for you we can just vote you out? Honestly though, get over it, stop trying to force everyone to heed to a deadline unless the mod wants one, and start reading up.
As for the actual deadline - it doesn't bother me, but coming into the Christmas period, people will have less and less time anyway to post. Heck, people will be away now and if Mandy does put in a deadline, they may not see it until they get back and then bam, they couldn't contribute when they could. Idk, do what you feel is right Mandy.
