For the draknor map, I agree with you it belong to complex.
For the Space map, yeah it's really not that difficult. It's just for me standard means, regions connecting each other are next to each other.

Re: Not so random maps
7 years later and random is still random. for those of us PURISTS that regularly play random maps, i would like to thank you. there are fewer games out there to join, there are fewer players. some of the random maps i get are ABSOLUTE CRAP, they are maps that i would not regularly play and maps that if i had put a game up on them, they would likely have not filled. generally, in chat, my opponents agree that it is nice to play on something we haven't played or seen... i love random/poly games... i hope the change goes forward as speedily as it has for the past 7 years... the black jesus has spoken...-Jésus noir
p.s.-everyone wants changes... more and more restrictions... can't you all see that all of these changes have strangled CC and led players to flee... i bet CLANS would love to restrict random maps to certain maps... ugh... f'ing clans, the ruination of CC...

Re: Not so random maps
I think it would not hurt to have the ability to exclude certain maps. i am not necessarily in favor of a "self-selected" exclusion, in part because it would get unwieldy.
instead, have a "random baseic" that would offer only the basic maps, 3 for every territory in standard play. A random/"speed" play that would exclude hive and a couple of other maps that are unwieldy to play quickly, plus a "almost everything" choice that would exclude some of the stranger maps -- AOR, HIve, etc, (folks could discuss/vote on new selections). Also, could set out parameters for where beta maps would go when removed from Beta. (for example, a map with more than x territories would be considered "big".. etc.)

then it isn't random. why not discuss this with people before starting a game in call outs or rank restricted games? this would take far too much time to code and i don't see a huge upside to it. random is random and it is a cool setting...-Bj

the random map selection, yet I almost hate some of these maps equally. PLUS there are all the BETA maps that I usually do not want to be playing.
Agree with OddjobNick
