Paris de 1285 a 1314

Post by CL0WN FAC3 »

Map Name: Paris de 1285 a 1314
Mapmaker(s): CL0WN FAC3
Number of Territories: Easily >100
Special Features: None planned as of now
What Makes This Map Worthy of Being Made: There is not yet a map of Paris.

I have just started working on this map. I plan on rotating the image 90 degrees counter-clockwise and adding color. I think this map will need to be super-sized based on the amount of detail and the number of territories I plan on adding.

As for not infringing on copyright law, the website I got the image that I will base my map on says "Images may be reproduced or transmitted, but not for commercial use."
Would this count as commercial use? Would I be okay as long as the image is edited enough to look substantially different?

Welcome to the foundry. Glad you posted! You can use the map as a basis. By the time you add colors, boundaries, names, and bonuses it will look very different and be OK of any laws. We have a lot of French players so there is likely to be membership interest in your map.

Good starting point! Let's see where it goes from here!

My progress so far. I plan on having it to where territories will border each other if they touch and/or if the are connected by the same color road segment.

Also, does anyone know what 'abeurouer' means? I tried Google Translate but had no luck. They label what appear to be docks on the river.

I believe it's actually abevrouer
The closest I could find was here with "Abevrer: Aboivrer, faire boire un cheval"
So according to this definition, I assume an abevrouer would be the place you get your horse to drink. At any rate, it seems very likely it's a variation of "abreuver" and therefore has to do with drinking. It's very old french, most of the words are written wildly differently from what they are now. As an example, the river Seine is written as Sainne in the map
