The forum is very obviously declining because the mods permit abuse and general nonsense in the chat. Adults won't stay on the site with that behaviour being permitted, so it will always decline. It's very easy to fix.

I see this post as an oversimplified version of why CC has been in decline. So is Facebook and television viewing all across many channels and options in the USA. There are other options for people to find entertainment. There are other websites that offer Risk. To blame mods is like blaming the Administrator: very myopic.

Preferences and reality changes; see the decline of Peloton stocks. Yes, I know that the COVID has had a huge impact on Peloton sales. Things change. It is up to management to find more customers in an ever changing online and media landscape.

I've just had interactions with the mods and have cancelled my subscription as a result. That's just one case so obviously the issues you point will be factors too but I kept it for years despite using other games. But I can't think of anyone who works a busy schedule and has money to pay for subscriptions that can be bothered with the behaviour on the site and the mods' attitude. That means it's always going to be at risk of decline as adults move on.

You know forum mods can't do anything about game chat abuse, right? You have to report it in C&A section. If it's a one off thing, they let it slide, (unless it's really bad) but if a player is being systematically abusive across several games, that's grounds for him to get in trouble. You just look at his other recent games, see if he's been abusive there too and post the game numbers up.

You can't expect the mods to see what goes on in every game, it's up to members to report bad behaviour, especially systematic bad behaviour that makes the site less fun.

Justplay4fun's suggestion is a good one too. Join a clan and you'll have a bunch of pretty awesome people to play with. I've been in one for close to 9 years. Only reason I am still here, honestly. It's not that I dislike the site, but I do have a short attention span. Being in a clan brings me back whenever I leave for a while.
