Loser Jack Smith, one of the most incompetent lawyers on Earth (his prosecution of the notoriously corrupt governor of Virginia was famously overturned 9-0 by the Supreme Court due to bumbling in his filings), has just proved what a dullard he is yet again.
The Supreme Court set oral arguments in Trump's D.C. trial appeal for April 22. Meaning a decision won't be forthcoming until around June 1. But SCOTUS decisions don't take effect for 25 days to give the losing party a chance to petition for rehearing. Which Trump will do on Day 25, delaying final lifting of the stay to July 1. And defendants have a statutory right to a minimum of 90 days until trial which means the absolute earliest the two-month trial can start is October 1 --- 35 days before the election -- if 100% of everything goes exactly right for Jack from here on out (which it never does).
Jack Smith better be updating his passport and getting his tickets to Caracas for January 2025 booked. I definitely wouldn't wanna be him when our Master returns.

All this was inspired by the principle – which is quite true within itself – that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.
It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

Look, all politicians lie. Nobody would say otherwise.
Trump's level of lying all day, every day, about pretty much everything, is really unprecedented.
I'd take a load of silly Trump lies over one big Bush lie used to justify invading another country tbf.
Yeah, in terms of net consequences you might be right.
It's too soon to tell how much long-term harm Trump has done, but in terms of consequences we already know about, the devastation wrought by Bush is pretty bad.

Bush irreparably damaged US reputation and international standing. He got us into unending and hard to define wars, but actually galvanized and united Americans internally. It seems like Trump has been more about breaking down US institutions and citizens faith in their gov't, the legitimacy of their elections and pride in their country. While alot of that damage has already been done, the net fallout of it is still unknown... will America get back to a proud country where citizens respect each other, or is it going to rip itself apart for the coming epoch. As you say time will tell.

I blame bush for the dumbing down of merica. The no child left behind act meant hello to standarized tests which measure not much of anything and goodbye to any sort of learning of critical thinking skills.

That's why we love him. America's chickens are coming home to roost.
When Marc Antony went to battle against the Senate, the Republic was forced to end its wars of conquest as it focused attention inwards. And when the Senate and the old institutions were finally defeated, the Empire was born, ending decades of decay.

In a separate case from the OP, the Supreme Court today issued a rare, 9-0 ruling that the Rats can't try to keep President Donald Trump off the 2024 election ballot under the Constitution's insurrection clause.
