A friend of mine had a monkey, which would sometimes try to challenge his authority and would bite him. He'd grab the monkey and hold it in the shower with the water on cold. That would always remind the monkey who was the alpha male. Would usually be another year after a shower before the monkey would misbehave again.

btw: About the time the remake came out at the theater, I got a copy of the original "Planet of the Apes" with Charlton Heston and watched it with my son and his friend. I did not remember things like the long sections of little action and lots of music. But the shock of seeing Apes ruling and hunting humans, the shock of the apes when Heston speaks, and the shock of realizing that Humans destroyed the Earth in the final scene are what I recall, before watching it again. Great movie, in its time; I enjoyed it both times.
