America, Inc.

Post by HitRed »

Trump has an unprecedented 12 billionaires for his administration. Tariffs go in effect tomorrow on Canada, Mexico and China. And the markets don't seem to be worried.

This will be an interesting experiment.

There will be a 2-3 week delay before the tariff/tax takes effect due to paperwork and notifications of the seller and buyer of products.

Canada, Mexico and China is our largest trading partners. There will be retaliation. Wall Street will be adversely effected, especially once inflation starts and a recession possibility.

Really HitRed....you call this an interesting experiment?

This interesting experiment can result in a recession or worse. We already experimented with tariffs in 1930 which made the depression worse.

Recession is already baked in.

His team has huge amounts of experience, connections and confidence. And the power of the presidency. And the power of the USA. And the leading market in the world. We have never had a presidency so business oriented. It isn’t all money though. Stopping the fentanyl epidemic would help all the countries.

It should be an interesting experiment.

Please explain how the recession is already baked in. Oh...I see! It's all Biden's fault!

You should increase tariffs on Canada, we export beef and oil, those items need to be more expensive.

Interesting experiment, $75 steaks, gas $30/gallon. Cheeseburger? $20.

You'll somehow blame Biden.

Since 1980 when the Fed raised rates then reversed rates the gray areas (recession) happened. It’s a strong correlation. The number of months till it happened varies. We are long in the tooth to have one.

Interesting article of trade between the provinces.

Canadian booze-makers hope U.S. tariff threats help smash trade barriers at home

You like correlations? Recessions since World War II have happened under Republican Presidents.

It's true that we are way overdue for a recession.

Until this nonsense happened, however, it was supposed to be a relatively mild recession.

The tariffs have a chance to turn a mild recession into a catastrophe. Don't need to remind people about Smoot-Hawley, I'm sure, and the root causes of WWII.
