[EoA] [PC] Online Status 2.0

Concise description:
  • Online Status 2.0

Specifics/Details:
  • Player name marked (ie bolding, color change, highlighting, or icon) on Game Finder, Join a Game, Central Command, and In Game screens
  • Shows an icon on profile (Implemented!)
  • Includes the option to show online status only to friends/clanmates
  • Includes the option to hide online status only from foes

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Not sure, the community seems to like it :)
  • Real Time Games are made easier


Keep in mind this may have effects on freestyle and speed games, and "cheap shot" strategies become more accessible.

I don't know if it has been suggested before...

but a nice add would be that when you are ingame... I would like to see who is ingame too... (or maybe just online...logged into account...)

It would help in those time in freestyle games when you are waiting for the last player to do his move... see who is online waiting to jump to be the first to play... I lost several games like that (games where I was the strongest, but I couldn't make my move before the others...)

so that is that...

If you look down at the bottom of the forum index there is a list of all the people currently logged in. :)

Show what users are online

Have a symbol next to the name of users that are online, so that the game chat becomes actually chat, and not a bulletin board on which you pin messages. Also this would greatly aid those who would like to play real time games.

If you just look at the bottom of the forum you can see everyone who is logged on, except for the people who don't want to be seen.....

I was just wondering if there could a symbol on the boardgames showing that a persons online thataway we could know wearther to wait or play another game...

i chose australia because anyone in control of asia will be targeted because of their continent and bonuses.

if I had enough armies, i would love to control asia because then australia is an easy grab

never seen anyone get the asia bonus unless they are about to win anyway so i think it one of the worst continents

Asia gets alot of armies but is hellish to take early in the round and hard to defend

Austalia has a decent defence but if you survive there you may not have the power to break out and be left there to die

It'd be nice of there could be an on-line flag next to peoples names so you can tell who is on-line and who isnt when looking at game sign ups.

i know you can view the list on the forum page.

but that'd be nicer huh? and may stop the need for real time posts.

I like the idea for sequential but for freestyle this would be annoying as it would create the waiting game. If you know an opponent is online you might want to wait for him to begin his turn before you begin yours to create more chaos. This would just be annoying in freestyle.

You could maybe have a link toa place that lists all members, and shows online ones. Or like I suggested a while ago, a friends list to tell if buddies are online or off.

You could probably just rip the code from the phpbb and put it somewhere else.

I don't know exactly how this code would need to be altered for use, but this is the code that's used by phpbb.

For team games, and other reasons, it would be nice to see if a player is "online" - especially in team games.

It would allow for easier communication and your team-mates would then read comments if they see that you're online.

Its alright for team games, but not for freestyle, as people would just wait for the other to take his/her turn then.
