What exactly is "stoop down to the level of directly targeting each other's user base"?
I don't plan on spamming and I don't interfere with people's gaming experience by saying "come play somewhere else". A post to Off Topic isn't stooping. I have said as much to Twill. Surely you guys talked on that?
So, I don't see the point of your post. You are pre-emptively warning me that you would censor me?
Just as I said to Twill, I see CC, Landgrab, GS, Dominate Game, etc as collaborators in bringing a cool free Risk gaming experience. What's really important about competition between free gaming sites? Nothing really but how they help each other.
"Two steps ahead" usually turns out to be a very subjective thing. We will just have to be two steps ahead of each in our own minds.
I know that GS is already more than two steps ahead of CC in what I would consider core technical areas in the UI. And you will need to spend a good many hours behind that keyboard to recover those steps. You did inital version of CC in six months? I did GS in 2 months, a few hours each night. I suggest surrendering all of your armies to me now.

I wouldn't even say it's a friendly rivalry between the sites... I tried to play all 3(I couldn't ever figure it all the way out), and I think all three of them have their benefits.. Plus you can never get enough risk..

Actually, if you look above you'll see that I prefer playing on CC. It is stable, it is proven and it has a lot of nice options.
Technically CC is fairly boring to look at and can be very clumsy to use. I don't Lack really concentrates at all on user interface design.
GS on the other hand barely qualifies as a beta. It's more like alpha. But unless Lack does some real design of the structure and function of the UI for CC, then I'd say in three months time, GS will be "better". As always "better" is subjective.

Many of the rules and game types from CC are available.
We have recently added a map based on Risk II if anyone is interested in playing on that map.
You actually easily port the map over to CC if you wanted to.

We have recently added the ability to configure the number of turns before you are dead-beated from a game.

I found an issue that will be fixed in the next update where the mapdata wasn't being refreshed on the client side. This surely caused the attack issues you were seeing.
I'd be interested in other issues that you are seeing. List 'em out here and I'll fix them.

Don't you have your own bloody forums? Why do you always have to use Conquer Club's forums for your suggestions / bug reports / announcements!?
You would never see me posting this kind of stuff on W@W or Landgrab.

This simplest answer to your question is why not? I suggest you do go to OFF TOPIC discussion areas on W@W and Landgrab and if you have users there, then engage them in discussion or start your own threads to see why they play there instead of at CC. At some point I will set up a discussion area for GS. I welcome you to come there.

Well, I signed up for this right when i heard about it but never played a game or really checked it out. Heres a few suggestions...
*Get a forum, you need it.
*Make some new maps. All the maps you have are copycats of CC maps except for 2 of them, which are variants of the classic map.
*Originality. You have made some minor changes but it still feels like CC with a different look.
I think if you improve on those areas you could have a pretty good site. I might consider joining a game or 2 but I will more than likely not get premium.

The obvious answer to why GS doesn't have forums is time. GS is about 6 weeks old. I've been doing more important things. Biggest problem with forums is of course the signal to noise ratio. Most posts in your typical online forum are really of no value. I have no desire to do moderation of an online forum. How much more coding do you think Lack could be doing if he wasn't replying to all of his PMs?
Most GS users talk with me right now on email. I received hundreds of suggestions, bug reports, etc.
And there are fair amount of things on CC that I haven't copied. Mostly b/c I consider them to be broken or unintuitive. Almost the entire user interface for CC aside from the actual map display is entirely un-copied. One small example, the list boxes (chat and log) in CC display the newest items at the bottom. This is completely broken. I've never seen this behavior in a single piece of software.

Most of the maps actual _are_ CC maps, via asking the authors for permission.

I am redoing the CC Asia map, should be done in a couple days. I'm going to do what I consider to be improvements to it. China is way too big on that map. You could never hold China and not have already won the game. So it will have coastal and inland China. And why exactly is 1/3 of that map devoted to a large dragon?
I have redone the CC Europe map making what I consider improvements and it is playable at GS. You can actually see the connection b/n Italy and Albania. I removed one country from the "Germany" Continent which I properly renamed to something besides Germany. Made the colors lighter. IMO, it looks much better.

Feature update: Real time games and Team Chat and Do or Die
We have added a few new features of note to GS:
Real time games (15 minute turn period)
Team chat (separate chat area for team related chats)
Do or Die button (attack in all or nothing fashion)

I consider GS to be a much better risk gaming experience than CC. It plays much faster. Things like being able to click on countries and a Do or Die button take a lot of the work out of the game.
