If any copyright issues should pop up, the MORE original content you have, the better chance you have of keeping this cool site alive.

You might end up losing the Classic Map, which would suck, but it wouldn't kill the place.

If all we did was a clear version of someone elses product, not so good...

The gameplay is public domain, as it was developed prior to hasbro's packaging of it under the name Risk. Anybody can remake the game so long as they don't use the name or steal any of hasbro's artwork.

Not very but thanks for asking. Maybe 30-40 minutes.

Thanks for all the feedback, even the weird ones, and for voting.

Keep the creativity and complexity coming! (not sure about the subliminal phallus's but i'll try anything once)
People will fuss and moan at first at anything new.... it's annoying not knowing what the hell is going on but once you figure out how everything works it only adds.

I avoided 'Age of merchants' for a while; i played a couple of games got whooped having no idea of how to build a bonus' until it was too late.
No one likes being at a disadvantage to someone who obviously knows the score.

I realise that it is not the map-makers job but it helps a hell of a lot if GM (BOB) works straight away. Perhaps not so much with Merchants but certainly with Pearl Harbour.

Just random thoughts but Maybe there could be a combination of territories on a new map which gave no bonus but allowed attack to any territory on the board (Missile silos, command center, 2 radars... or something) ... there would be a rush for these territories as well as for bonus's.

Anyway cheers for the maps!

It's been mentioned a coupla times on this thread, but i think it's worth stating explicitly.

one gimmick that would open a lot of different map ideas is continents or regions that open new doors. You take a territory and it allows passage through borders that would otherwise be closed. You can see the possibilities:

A siege-style map, where you have to take the regions outside the castle to open the gate.

A space hulk map, where occupying the control room allows your armies to pass through otherwise locked doors.

etc.

Don't know how it would work for team play, though...

arizona, we've asked for that, but right now it isn't possible with the current xml (code that makes the maps work).

We have no idea when or if lack will add it, but now you're someone I can quote asking for it when he wants to put together another list of xml features to add. :)

coleman, can you please update this list with the more recently quenched maps.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

It's still far too subtle guys, we need more...

There appears to be a very large one in the map of Thailand. I think they shot the entirety of their bolt on this map.

gimmicks

Post by schlepp »

I liked Battle for Australia as it was originally with the 12 or 15 neutral territories. It created slightly different gameplay depending on how the neutrals were spread. Most others must not have liked the neutrals.
Also, my regular teammates and I have been discussing how much fun it would be to play larger (more teams) team games. It would only be feasible on a larger map like World 2.1.
I neglected to add that I really like the variety of options we have. Thank you to those who put in all the work developing the maps.
