In a football tournament (or really can be done for any sport), let's hypothetically say I was not going to let a player choose exactly which team he would be on, but rather assign them by score, to make it seem more realistic. Of course they would be allowed to suggest who not to be on, but not who to be on.
What do you think the public will think of this?
What do you think about this?

I would probably give the player 3-4 options to choose from. So in a football tournament the best player may get these:amazzony wrote:When skimming through tournaments I was actually thinking about it. So I'm approving itOf course, it means that you need to do more work when deciding which player has to be which team but it would definitely give some extra something to the tournament IMO.
Barcelona
Manchester United
Lyon
Chelsea
A mediocre one these:
Newcastle United
Bordeaux
Ajax Amsterdam
Villareal
And a lower one these:
Besitkas
AEK Athens
Werder Bremen
Getafe
Just an example.

yes, it works well
I employed a similar idea with a college basketball season that I am currently running and it's worked well. I tried not to be too tough about it, but I limited Privates and below to smaller schools, while leaving the power teams for the Generals and above...it's worked well, but you'd be surprised how many lower-ranked players can do well in a season format (of course it is 1 vs. 1)
