Callouts forum and tournaments

Post by amazzony »

I've thought about it before and it actually is an "issue" now so I thought that I'll just ask what other organisers think.

Should or shouldn't Callouts forum used as getting players for tournaments? Why/why not?

I've done it before. Sometimes people just don't like a particular tournament and no one joins, so post it in Callouts. That's what I did, and it filled up moderately fast.

I think callouts should only be used if you need reserves. If not, if someone wants to join a tournement they will go to the create/join a tourny forum.

I have used the Callouts Forum for filling up tournaments before. Why would it be a problem? That is what it is there for, to let players know about games that are available.

Feel free to use the Callouts Forum if you need to fill a large tournament and after a week or so you are still trying to fill the last couple of spots. I wouldn't bother using it from the beginning, or for smaller tournaments, as you probably shouldn't have a problem filling them, but for larger tournaments, after a week or two has passed and you still need 10 players, it doesn't hurt to make a post int he Callouts Forum and see if there is more interest you can generate.

After all, there are some players that never visit our forum here to see the tournaments currently accepting players.

ROFL. Can't agree more  Ready to sell your beliefs so easily. Optimus is your god?

Just realised that I forgot to post what I think

Anyway, I think that it is completely allowed to use Callouts. BUT with common sense and reason. If everybody starts posting there then it loses it's IMO. It should be used wisely and when really needed. We should keep it as our back-up plan. We should make interesting posts there, make people want to come in here. Because I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there who haven't found their way to Tournaments but if they get a hint what's going on in here then they might stick around more and I'd like this place (ie Tourneys) to get bigger and more known.
If we go there with all of our tournaments then there's not much point for tournament forum (alright, it's not that serious but there's a bit of truth in it).

Cheers,

I wouldn't use it all the time, because the people who play in tournaments know where to find them, but I do have to say that I'm not opposed and I have a feeling at some point I will have to sell one of my current recruiting tournaments to get it even filled, so having multiple outlets is good.
