Pretty much... maps and site.. it's CC Lite. It's a free country I guess, and imitation IS the highest form of flattery.

Isn't that wrong? Those maps are other people material. They didn't give permission for it to be on that site, did they?

Yeah - but he's made a good job of the Classic extra map with Hawai, Falklands, New Zealand, phillipines and svadbad added.

they made a risk 2???

Maybe they'll branch out like monopoly and make specialised maps, that'd be like CC, only you get to irrationally accuse ppl of having weighted die!!!

The creators of the maps were all asked and all gave their permissions for re-use.

If you are a CC map maker I welcome you to submit your map to GS. It's a free site with no ads, and it is there to provide people with nice free Risk gaming experience, just like CC.

At some point I would like to have GS maps available on CC. I have 3 or 4 maps under construction now. Here for example is re-worked Middle East map that looks tons better than the CC version:

That looks quite very similar to "The fight for alexander's empire" currently being created by Mr K.

i went and had a look, and alot of the maps are exactly the same, good site though, possibly lack could implemet the turn lenth settings to include a 15 mins or an 24 hours.

if they can take from here, can't it go both ways?

i see heaps of CC players over there.

There's a couple things at GS that actually make it faster to play your games than CC:

Do or Die button: you don't have to press attack 50 times when fighting 30 vs 30 armies. This makes cleaning up countries in the end game much faster.

Attack combo boxes autofill: when you select the country to attack from only the countries that you can attack are available in the other dropdown.

There is a fair amount of javascript that needs to be downloaded when you first join and login to GS. But once it is downloaded the game loads quickly and you can login relatively quickly.

Many of the features GS has are on, and have been on, Lack's To-Do list. ;)

The do-or-die button may speed the game up, but the site itself is slooow.
It takes longer to navigate through the site.

Which links are you referring to that are slow? Toggling between My Games and the Join Game screen is instantaneous. As do the following screens: Messaging, Compose a Message, Options Dialog.

Actually opening and viewing a game is faster on CC, but that is not where the majority of your time is spent.

I am going to be speeding up the attacking and fortify so that only the country data pertinent to the attacks is sent and received. This should result in large time saving.

GS displays how much time is left in your turn and if you are able to take a turn on your active games page. This saves a lot of time if you have 10 games going. You don't have to scan the list of players for the green light.

The leader board and map preview pages are fairly slow on GS.

Composing a message in particular is faster on GS b/c it is done with a popup dialog. Sending a message in CC is a matter of going to 3 different pages and then you have to find your way back to the screen from which you sent the message (if sending from a game).

Come now you can do better that. Be more creative. But then from your maps I have seen you touch you don't have a creative bone in your body.

Really, not in the least bit useful.

Which navigation is slow? B/c as I listed above the most important navigation appears to be instantaneous.

BTW, The king of all slow risk sites is landgrab. The guy is loading 200 K of javascript on his login screen. Most people won't even wait for that stuff to download.
