Realtime risk
I use to play realtime risk on the warzone, http://www.ewarzone.com. However some problems are there:
- you have to have the riskII disk from Hasbro
- you are depending on the connection to each player (up to
, if one is freezing or booting, its game over
- some nasty players are freezing the game on purpose
- games can go on for 2 hours and if well played a lot more, so you got to have time to stay in the game all time - dont go to bed to early
But its real fun:
- realtime playing
- animation on screen
- chat during game
- you make a lot of friends, lol and enemies
I wish we could combine the advantages of the warzone with the webbased gaming of conquer club. The combination would be the best!

5-minute turn cycle, for RT games
I've proposed this lower down, but thought it could have its own thread.
Would it be possible to allow the initiator to create an RT game, with 5 minutes to complete your turn, and 15 minutes limit per round? This way, if everybody is paying attention, any dead-beats would drop out in 30 minutes or so.
The 15 minute limit would work for 3-person games sequential, or any number free-style.
The goal here would be to complete rounds well within the 15 minute time limit, of course.

Fair enough. Thanks for moving the thread.
I checked the sticky's on this. This wasn't really a "Varying Game Time" option -- more like an "RT Game Time Category" with fixed 5/15 or fixed 3/18 minute options (whichever seems more appropriate).
I agree it might be more convenient to get 'clever' with the algorithm, and if it's 'late' in the game (turn 6 or so) allow more time for moves. But I assumed a 'dumb' algorithm of fixed times might at least let us evaluate the idea without too much additional programming.
Just a thought. I'm a software guy myself, so I know even 'simple' seeming mods can be quite difficult to implement.

When realtime comes, maybe there should be an option that if everybody in the game clicks, to return the game to 24hr turns and back and forth. This would be needed because people could get really stung for points if they had to leave a realtime situation.
Highest Score: 1843 Ranking (Australians): 3
The waiting can be infuriating.Changes needed maybe?
I am quite new here.I have always been a fan of this game.I was wondering if there are any quick games played from beginning to end without the long waiting periods.I understand there are time differences so wouldnt it be sensible to have European games,American games etc?It might cut out some of the long waiting periods.I understand as well some people have more time on their hands than others so what about having a choice? There could be quicker maps with a far shorter time to make moves as well as the idea in place at the moment. What do you think?

Real Time Time Limit
This one's for all the non-members. A 5-10 minute time limit for realtime games, so you don't lose a game slot when someone has to leave before finishing the game.

its a good idea, but the time limit should be about 20 minutes or so. Its a lot harder if you have a lot of troops. Maybe a time limit based on the number of troops. Like 5 minutes for 1 to 10 troops 8 for 10 to 20 and so on till a max of 20 or 25 minutes.

It would still allow people to play the slow games that they want, and allow others to play more often.
Yes, this is something I'm looking into...
he posted that jan 30. dont expect this anytime soon.
