It's now been one month since the entries were due, and still no results :(

Hopefully they'll be coming soon.

Thanks to lengthy delays due to general mismanagement on my behalf, the 66 banner submissions that made the initial cut have now been subjected to a month of exposure on a Google ad campaign. The results are in. It's time to reveal who the best banner designers are on CC!

Let me explain the metrics we used. CTR is click-through rate, the percentage of impressions that are clicked on. Conv is conversion rate, the percentage of clicks that become a player.

Without further ado...

The "without non-CC trademarked material" category

There were a lot of very good banners (and crappy ones too) but these performed the best.

468 x 60 Banner: azurewrath87 CTR 0.14% Conv 10.53%
Image
728 x 90 Leaderboard: Syzygy CTR 0.38% Conv 9.09%
Image
250 x 250 Square: ey51 CTR 2.53% Conv 6.76%
Image
120 x 600 Skyscraper: DiM CTR 0.31% Conv 0.00%
Image

The "with non-CC trademarked material" category

There was little competition here and DiM cleaned house!

468 x 60 Banner: DiM CTR 0.17% Conv 0.00%
Image
728 x 90 Leaderboard: DiM CTR 0.34% Conv 2.38%
Image
250 x 250 Square: DiM CTR 2.19% Conv 4.00%
Image
120 x 600 Skyscraper: DiM CTR 0.00% Conv 0.00%
Image

Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone who participated. I hope you guys had fun! I really enjoyed seeing all the varied artwork :P

Just an observation...

The banners with "chose wisely" may need to be changed to "choose wisely.

"Chose" is past-tense and "choose" is present or future tense.

He makes a fair point - I wonder if the click rate would've been less with the correct spelling however...

hey english isn't my native language, cut me some slack please :P

i can modify those if it's still needed. i don't know if lack still uses them or if it was just a 1 month campaign.

Glad that this was rigged. Otherwise, I would have won. My Jessica Alba banners were the best! :D

i'm actually surprised none of the animated banners won.

Hey no worries - I wasn't blaming you - I know that - of course all the people who looked at them in the banner contest - Lack and Twill too - could've pointed that out for you too..

I was more posing the psychological effects of someone seeing a mistake - and then following the link to tell the people how to correct it...

I'm not suprised the animated ones didn't win - I personally hate animated adverts...

Surprisingly, the banner with the highest CTR (3.63%) was Dysp's & Loy's:
Image

But hardly any of the clicks became players. They must have been "curiosity" clicks.
