To answer my own question (answers usually come after hitting 'submit'), if LSU was already active in night one, he may have gotten the extra life from me. I got it from jnd, so it may have been part of his profit already.
I visited jnd and gained an extra life. LSU killed me and took it.

First, I just sent in an action to absorb your powers. Then I started thinking and with everybody else who was active on Day one cleared or dead, I was sure you had to be the remaining killer. I wasn't completely sure there was a doc in the game, with all those double lives and weird powers, and I assumed you'd kill me, and thought I'd take you down with me and die a hero...
