That's still illegal in most places even if I were so inclined.

The US seems to be wanting to change that though. Bring them some good ol' fashioned freedom!

The fact of the matter is, we have Flame Wars, it's not going away, and if you don't like it, then don't go there.

Did you just intimate that you believe Jiminski to be a homosexual?

I think you'll find that casting aspersions based on other user's sexuality is one of the few forbidden actions on this site. Also, might I remind you that this is an inappropriate place to be flaming other users, please use FW if you wish to indulge in such behaivour.

Wow, this thread has gotten pretty ridiculous. Maybe it's time to give up and move on?

Flame Wars

I feel like it should be banned because it shows a worse side of people and makes them feel sad and misereable.

You could keep the flame forum but add an indecency word check on all the forums (such tools do exist for forums and they are automatic so the mods don't have any extra work). .. meaning that certain words like c#nt, f#ck, S#it, etc can't be posted. It's a start at least.

I don't think Flame Wars needs to be removed totally. You probably don't even need to to get the tools that Heimdall is suggesting (although that is certainly one way around).

I would suggest that Flame wars is not an 'Open' forum. You can have it that members can apply to view and post on the 'Flame Wars' section of the forum.
That way anyone who isn't interested in 'Flame Wars' won't apply and therefore they won't even see 'Flame Wars' in Conquer Club Forum Index.

I have voted to keep 'Flames Wars', but the vote is only because I know that it can be kept with either Heindalls suggestion and/or my suggestion.

I was 'Flamed' once, and I did find it particulary funny. What I didn't not like was the fact that the person flaming me was able to follow me into my games and constantly send me pm's in an attempt to coerce me to coming into Flame Wars and actually replying!.
Of Course I did eventually block that person so the harrasment did stop, well I think it did, the person is still blocked so I can't see their posts

 Thanks for that. I suppose if they are wasting their time trying to coerce me, it means they have less time to coerce someone else :P

I merely thanked everyone who contributed regardless of what side they fall on. Don't confuse courteous behavior with "bumping". If you had not accused me of that, I would not have posted even this. YOU do your thing, just don't accuse me of acting the same way.

Oh wow, somebody bumped CC's Official "Most faggoty retarded thread" again!

Now I just wonder who that might have been? Who could possibly like faggoty retarded things that much? Hell, I sure have no idea...

This thread is still freakin going?

Let it die, peacefully, in it's old age... No need to get the old man all riled up again.

Yay! Just returned after a long long time. Glad to see it's gone.

OK . . . now you can accuse me of a "bump". But it's really been months since I was last here. Good to be back. :P

Great thread that I hadn't seen before.

Dancing Mustard was just kicking arse around pages 4-7. A tour de force no less. Jiminski and BK were also highly relevant and perceptive. Very interesting to see the contrast between the 2007 mods and the 2009 variety. From my (admittedly biased) perspective, they seemed to have the community at the forefront of their minds for more than Optimus Prime appears to now.

I turned up at the fag end of the Liberal CC Age. Wicked was starting to go crazy, Twill had become a fair bit less tolerant by the spring of 2008 (though he was still very, very good at his job) and the faux moralists were beginning to rear their ugly heads. But even then the CC forums were one of the most inventive, creative and comedic places I had seen in the on-line world, or for that matter rarely bettered in the real world. Flamewars was symbolic of that maturity, that sense of letting the kids play in flamewars and get it out of their systems. There was never any real harm done now was there? It WAS the forums that actually got me so involved in CC. It was reading some Dancing Mustard, some Fruitcake, some Prowler, some Owenshooter that not only made me realise that CC was a place I could (finally) indulge my Risk obsession competitively, but also converse with like-minded souls online. I'd never actually done that before, you know?

To see Wicked and Twill defending freedom of expression! How refreshing! Yet now we have no flamewars, people get banned for profanity in gamechat, criticising mods gets you banned if you lack the wit to do it within the current guidelines which is no reason to ban IMO, cheating and abuse is littered with immature tripe directly caused by Orwellian directives regarding farming, game selection and 'language'... and more and more of us despair of what this still incredibly unique, but disintergrating, forum is turning into.

I didn't read all of this, just went back and read page 4. I notice though that Dancing Mustard makes good points.

It all comes down to "why?" and "where's the evidence?"

With the mods and admins here, they do what they want. Where is the jury in these court cases that decide whether or not a user be perma-banned? Where is the civilian appointed jury? How do we go up the chain with our complaints?

Phat Joey was actually the best poster in the thread.. he was a brilliant straight-man; dryly handing out set-ups for our punchlines where needed and forever fuelling our conclusions with mock-weak arguments.

Don't be fooled, Joey is a master of irony and the consummate bluff performer.. if he'd have been here in the Hyrassi-multi days we would still have flamewars.
