I actually did something on schedule for once! :D

Set 2 games in the following matchups have been sent on January 6th as promised!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The madmom/lawz vs. ironsij0287/big jumbo series is well underway. If everyone recalls, some of you were in groups that were well ahead of schedule, and I decided not to continue your series until the groups that were further behind caught up. They're not 100% caught up, but getting close, and next week I'll have a bit of spare time, so it will be a chance for me to launch the 2nd set for the other groups. Specifically:
 • SkyMonkey6/Bentelbow vs. europeanson/Lord Arioch
 • Caff/gmq vs. M V 3/Edicus
 • bobzimmerman/TigR vs. Dusty21/dan the general
... Set 2 should be going out around January 6th, give or take a day or two. For those of you who haven't had a game in this tournament in a long, long time, this is a wake-up call to dust off your dancing shoes, make communications with your partner, upgrade your premium if necessary, etc.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Caff/gmq vs. M V 3/Edicus set 1 is done with M V 3 team winning 6-4
First set of madmom/lawz vs. ironsij0287/big jumbo series begins.

Two more games for Caff/gmq vs. M V 3/Edicus

madmom/lawz have won their series against Cump Sherman and UCAbears.
Next two games going out in the Caff/gmq vs. M V 3 and Edicus_Rex.

-------------------------------------

The team of M V 3 and Edicus_Rex have won their match and are off to meet the team of iAmCaffeine and gmq. Details here.

-------------------------------------
New Round 2 matchups:

madmom no spoils, fog chained, trench
lawz21 no spoils, fog chained, trench
vs.
Cump Sherman flat rate, fog parachute, trench
UCAbears NS, sunny chained, NO trench

6-1, 6-2

bamage no spoils, fog chained, trench
TX AG 90 no spoils, fog chained, trench

vs.
Big jumbo nuke, fog adjacent, trench
ironsij0287 flat rate, fog chained, NO trench
6-4, 6-8, 4-6

M V 3 no spoils, fog chained, NO trench
Edicus_Rex failed to post settings no spoils, fog chained, trench
vs.
top banana flat rate, fog chained, trench
jaxdadio failed to post settings flat rate, fog parachute, trench
6-3, 6-0

Okay, this tournament is a bit of a mess, but I'm finally getting a handle on it. I've figured out the scoring system, and now to see who is owed what games.

Quarter-final scoreboard:
SkyMonkey6+Bentelbow vs. europeanson+Lord Arioch
6-1

bobzimmerman+TigR vs. Dusty21+dan the general
6-3

Looks like Set 1 is finished and we are ready to start Set 2 for those pairs. Unfortunately, some of the other groups are waaay behind.

iAmCaffeine+gmq have advanced to the Quarter-Final but do not yet have an opponent

Unfinished business from Round 2:
madmom+lawz21 vs. Cump Sherman+UCAbears
6-1

bamage+TX AG 90 vs. Big jumbo+ironsij0287
(score previously recorded incorrectly)
correct score 5-4, 6-8, 4-4
set 1 score was previously recorded as 6-4, giving bamage and TX the win. 5-4 does not satisfy the minimum separation of 2 games. Another game will be needed in set 1, as well as
at least 2 games in set 3.
Edit: the correct score was 6-4, 6-8, 4-4. Full discussion here.

M V 3+Edicus_Rex vs. top banana+jaxdadio
6-3

Next I need to find everybody's serving/receiving settings. Players still in this:
SkyMonkey6
Bentelbow
europeanson
Lord Arioch
bobzimmerman
tigR
Dusty21
dan the general
iAmCaffeine
gmq
madmom
lawz21
Cump Sherman
UCAbears
bamage
TX AG 90
Big jumbo
ironsij0287
M V 3
Edicus_Rex
top banana
jaxdadio

Settings:
SkyMonkey6 flat rate, sunny adjacent, trench
Bentelbow esc, sunny chained, trench
europeanson no spoils, fog chained, trench
Lord Arioch no spoils, fog chained, trench
bobzimmerman no spoils, fog chained, trench
tigR failed to post settings
Dusty21 flat rate, sunny chained, trench
dan the general flat rate, fog parachute, no
iAmCaffeine no spoils, sunny chained, trench
gmq no spoils, fog chained, trench
madmom no spoils, fog chained, trench
lawz21 no spoils, fog chained, trench
Cump Sherman flat rate, fog parachute, trench
UCAbears NS, sunny chained, NO trench
bamage no spoils, fog chained, trench
TX AG 90 no spoils, fog chained, trench
Big jumbo nuke, fog adjacent, trench
ironsij0287 flat rate, fog chained, NO trench
M V 3 no spoils, fog chained, NO trench
Edicus_Rex failed to post settings no spoils, fog chained, trench
top banana flat rate, fog chained, trench
jaxdadio failed to post settings flat rate, fog parachute, trench

Okay, so next steps are:
 1. Find out the settings for the three players who failed to post them
 2. talk to TX etc. about the messed up score for their Round 2 match-up
 3. check out why Cump Sherman and UCAbears are listed as "ff" in the OP. (I assume that ff means "forfeit" but no reason was given for the forfeit in the thread, so I won't consider it official until I talk to the players involved.)
 4. Start new games in the Round 2 unfinished business
Starting new games in the Quarter-Final will wait a bit for the other groups to catch up. A general PM will go out, but I'll also be sending some specific PMs to some of you regarding the issues above.
Every player joins individually.
When you join you pick a number between 1 and 64,i made a grid where numbers are coupled into 32 duo's.
So your partner will be picked randomly for the duration of the tournament.
Map settings are also random but every player has to choose 2 settings while serving:spoils and weather conditions, and 2 settings while receiving:reinforcements and progress.
ex:Player A picks number45.Service:Escalating,fog. Reception:chained,trench.

Every match is knock-out but you'll have to win 2 out of 3 sets to go through.
Every game created counts for 1 game and you'll have to win 6 games to win a set with a difference of minimum 2 games.
Games will be created by 6 at the time so premium only.
Every player is on serve every 4 games.
When you picked a number your place will be immediately filled in the grid.

Good luck

TX AG 90 wrote:Hi duk,

I think your counting is wrong.

We have played 32 games against each other, so 6-4, 8-6, 4-4 adds up.

Also, we won Round 2, Set 1, Game 10 - which gave us a 6-4 victory. https://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=16457653

Please double check both your findings and mine.

Thanks,

TX

TX AG 90 wrote:Hi duk,

I figured out the issue.

The linked game was accidentally logged into this tournament: ATP Random Doubles: Bournemouth.

However, if you check the chat log, it was supposed to be for AUS.

Thanks,

TX

TX is correct. Game 16457653 was incorrectly posted under the Bournemouth tournament and should have been part of this one. Golden did post in the chat of that game indicating so. The original score of 6-4 was therefore correct and will be restored.

That's one mystery cleared up!

Cump Sherman wrote:Just read your entire note. This was so long ago. This may have been the tournament that had no rules for not responding to invites. If so, I remember that for one of the sets, the chair had to invite our opponent 3 times before he accepted. Given that, I don't see how we could have a forfeit. But on the other hand, maybe I got tired of the 'no rules' and just decided to drop this tournament due to stupidity. Maybe, UCA remembers better.

No response from UCA or from madmom and lawz.

I think, given the fact that nobody can explain the forfeit (and in fact, I don't even know for sure that the "ff" does mean forfeit) I'll have to set it aside and play the next set with this matchup.

The newly-formed iAmCaffeine/Desperado1961 team has been penalized for a midseason substitution by randomly deleting one game and crediting the M V 3/Edicus_Rex team with 1 win in Set 2. I will also not redo the settings matrix until the end of the set.
