Only seven active games remain, and only two of those are close. I think we will be able to wrap up the regular season shortly, and start the playoffs before I leave on vacation May 23rd.

Okay, we are very, very close to the end of the regular season. I have completely scored all rounds up to Round 16. I have partially scored Rounds 17-19: there are still seven active games in those rounds, so those scores are not complete.

One think I would like to say is: I do make mistakes. Please, please, please, check the scores and make sure that I haven't shortchanged you. One team a while back found a mistake in my scoring, and there may be others. Especially if you are one of the teams that still has a shot at the playoffs, I strongly urge you to double-check. Also might be a good idea to double-check the scores of teams that are close to you in the standings.

Here is a link to the standings on Challonge.com:
Standings: https://challonge.com/3bbybd1z/standings

Based on the standings, we can be fairly confident of the following:
  1. Groovysmurf's team (currently comprised of groovy, JPlo, and misteryforall) is for sure going to the playoffs. Groovy's team has struggled a bit since loosing Cayman, and is no longer undefeated, but is still comfortably in first place. It's still conceivable that they'll be knocked out of first place, but it's not conceivable that they would be knocked all the way down to 5th.
  2. Team 5 (4 U 2, cheffed, and Samurai) and Snow Bunnies (itake, dshedd, and elddir) are in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The both still have ongoing games, but unless I have made some major error, I'm confident that they will also go to the playoffs.
  3. The fourth playoff spot is still a little bit in doubt. Team 15 (Lancelot, Unai, and Donelladan) are in fourth place. They still have an ongoing game, but it looks like a loss for them. In fifth place is Team 4 (grt, Cod, and Ukey) who also still have an ongoing game. They also look like they are losing that one, (Game 21646614). Still, the margin between Team 15 and Team 4 is only 3 points, so if I was on either of those teams I would definitely be going over the scores with a fine-toothed comb and looking for a chance that I missed four points somewhere along the way.
  4. I'll throw out a faint-hope clause to Pixar's team in sixth place. They are nine points out of fourth, so it is conceivable (albeit highly unlikely) that there is some combination of several errors in the score which might put them in contention.
  5. For all the teams below Pixar's, there is no chance at all of making the playoffs at this point. Twenty-two points separates seventh place for sixth. For everyone now eliminated, I hope you had some fun, I hope you have learned something, and I hope at least once in this tournament you have taken a minute to ponder the suffering of the millions of warriors who have died in the real-life Struggles in the Snow.
Thank you all.

I'm leaving on vacation on May 23rd. I would really like to launch the playoffs before I leave. If you are going to challenge a score, please do it in the next few days. If you are in one of the teams still in contention and you have an active game, please do what you can to end it quickly.

Of the seven games that were active as of last week, four have wrapped up:
Round 17
Game 21594515 Snow Bunnies have won.

Round 18
Game 21622161 Team 1 has won
Game 21622146

Round 19
Game 21646614
Game 21646604 this one should be over this round. I've gone ahead and scored it for our opponent.
Game 21646595 Team 5 has won
Game 21646569 Team 1 has won

Okay, I went through and verified the scores of the top five teams. I did find a couple mistakes, sufficient that the #1 and #2 teams have switched places. Snow Bunnies are now in first place; groovy's team in second.

Three points separates the #4 and #5 teams. Lancelot's team has no active games left; grt's team still has one active game left -- Game 21646614. Looking into the game, it looks very much like grt's team has lost, but I'll ask because I need to be sure. If grt's team pulled off a miracle comeback in that game, it would make them tied with Lancelot's team.

anything is possible, but I would think a grt team comeback is highly unlikely

Well, people, we're out of time. I leave on vacation tomorrow. I really wanted to get the first round of the Finals out before I left, but so far groovy is the only one to send map selections. There's just no time now between now and my departure.

Try again next week. Meanwhile, there are still teams that haven't sent their settings for the Finals.

I PM'd, but will paste it here also.

Thanks, Dukasaur.

We'll be running back the same map/settings combo for one map:
Transsib 1914 - no spoils, adj, fog, trench

And adding on NWP:
Northwest Passage - no spoils, sequential, fog, NON-trench

We appreciate you herding the cats here. Please let me know if I missed anything.

thanks for sending them out. I think one of the people on the other team missed the invites (or maybe somehow didn't get them)
