I do as well, it has the potential to be a good map (as you have done before) but I don't think it fit this competition.

just to further this... i also would like to see this as its own individual map!

Entry 2 looks fantastic. Whoever made it should use the same style, same colours, same texture, etc for making a new map.(Assuming that it doesn't win, even still, I'd like to see a few maps of that style at cc)

I almost guarantee that Entry #2 will live on to be a map , even if it loses round 2.

good to know WM, i suppose it'll give you something to do until Maze Craze gets quenched?

ps. if anyone was in this thread as much as I was at the start, WM posted that this map was his because he accidentally posted instead of pming someone about it.

pps. sorry if you didn't want your work to have a cartographer to it's name... just let me know if you want me to delete this post

The first night of this thread was great. The whole second page of posts was deleted. I laughed so hard - I had to call Widowmakers. Whitesanz knows what I'm talking about.

I don't think I'll be providing much of an update.
I'm pretty sure my vote would still be for #4, even if I did update my image.

So.... yeah.

All participants should recieved a PM concerning round two. All participant have a deadline of 11:59pm (GMT) on Wednesday 7th January 2009 to submit their next draft to [player]gimil[/player] for round 2 of the competition. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to leave feedback for those left in the competition.

I know the deadlines were extended, but there's no way I'm going to have time to update this by wed. I just got back into town last night from holiday, and I've got a list 2 pages long of more important things I need to get done (real life things). I have a vision in my head of some of the updates I wanted (better bridges, better mountains, a cool legend, perhaps the dragon as suggested but not sure) - but I will not be able to provide an update. I see WCA is not either. I'm not sure Oak is either. You may want to contact joel to see if he updated his. If not, then there's no need for a round-2, unless you want to postpone in another 2 weeks.

Anyway - hope you had a great holiday & happy new years gim. Talk to ya later.

If you don't have an update beals just post PM me what you have and we will go with it. I already got what I need from WM. We promised a round 2 so we will deliver it :)

Happy new year to you to!
What do you know about map making, bitch?

i guess you're not going to edit the above post gim.

Regardless. I created map #4. I have not had time to do any adjustments or improvements over the holidays or the last week. If this map is the winner, I intend to work slightly on a theme, correct the borders to match the original. I will improve the mountains, bridges, territory names, legend, and will continue the map through the foundry process, as normal. It will not move fast. I will most likely finish this, then finish the Brazil.

So - no updates for Round-2, but my intentions are there. Vote as you will.

well if you win without a theme I don't think you should put one

people voted for what you put there already

it's your map. you don't think it seems weird to put something on the map that people didn't vote for? improvements of what you've got make complete sense. adding a theme seems like another thing entirely

The theme is fantasy. It's already pretty much there.

I would say that is a fantasy

ah ha ha. I'm so funny.

though maybe you're talking about a version I haven't seen yet.

If not, I'll just have to hope you don't win. But, I will wish you a sincere good luck which given the first round you probably don't need.

Come on Ed.
Just because people voted on something, doesn't mean we can't change it during further developments. I mean I had no input whatsoever on the first draft. Normally my maps take a year. This was like a week. There's no other versions you have not seen. If people are interested in this map and vote for it, then they can follow it in the foundry and give feedback and suggestions.

As I said in round 1, I'm very happy with Rj's map as is. The only thing I'd change is the continent names - I just don't like the colors as names. But other than that, the generic fantasy "theme" is fine by me.

If Rj's map wins, it will be thrown into the normal Foundry process for feedback and changes. If at that point the people want a theme, we'll demand a theme; if the people want fantasy and dragons, we'll demand fantasy and dragons; if the people want pink hippos, we'll demand pink hippos.

And if we don't get what we want, we'll just stall the map to death like every other revamp we've seen around here. :? [-X

I don't want it to have a theme.
Just a few more mountains to replace some of the lakes.

A lot of people just plainly voted on the sight of the map. Without saying a thing.
Those that did criticise the map in the thread, had one major point that should be improved: a theme. No one rejected that idea. If it's well chosen, no one will dislike it.
Any of the four maps would be improved and changed in a further stadium in the Foundry, as oaktown said. So adding things is nothing to worry about. I say go theme ;)

I reject having a theme.
Unless it has dragons.
