Re: AJAX BOB 4.4.8 Development/Discussion (don't post bugs here)
For the points thing, perhaps it could say "Anywhere between X and Y" where X is the the point gain if the winner has the maximum score for his rank and the loser has the minimum score for his rank and Y is the point gain if the winner has the minimum score for his rank and the loser has the maximum score for his rank.
Also, I just installed this and I am loving it. The difference between normal CC and this is even better than the difference between IE and Firefox. I wonder if it's possible to fall in love with a script...
One problem I have is with the text map, though. With games like Age of Realms and Age of Merchants, there are hundreds of continent combinations, which makes the statistics and the text map huge. Perhaps it could have one of those scrolly boxes like with big images?

Quite a few people are actually having sex with it, so love would probably be seen as light relief by the script.Itrade wrote:I wonder if it's possible to fall in love with a script...

I've been suffering with exactly the same problem on exactly the same map and it never occurred to me to suggest a fix. I'll poke yeti to read your post if he hasn't already ...

AJAX BOB 4.5.1 Development/Discussion (don't post bugs here)
VERSION : 4.5.1
NEW FEATURES :
Attack MI Hovers
- When hovering over the map - we now use new icons to display what Borders, Attacks, is Attacked By, Bombards, is Bombarded By & has Mutual Bombardment.
- When hovering over the Players, Cards or using "Click Jumpers" the icons are now changed to be inline with the Borders in Attack hovers - and the safe Territories.
This is detailed by the following graphic.

New Help/Info
cicero has been an absolute star and has completely rewritten the Help/Info file for me. This is upto date and contains all the information that you could ever need.
To access the help - click the "help/info" option in the menu.
To navigate around the Help/Info - click the menu options as if you were using BOB itself - and the back buttons will take you back just like a back button.
Scrollable Text Map & Statistics table
The Text map & Statistics tables can now be made "scrollable" by clicking on the links - this can be reversed to the "fixed" versions by clicking the same link again. If the text map or statistics table cannot be made smaller - then the link will disappear when it's clicked.
FIXED :
Safe Territories now test for whether or not an enemy can bombard them.
Clock Format is now always in the Site Options menu - but will only affect the My Games page.
Few cosmetic tweaks for uber sexiness.

Yeti - this most recent update is really excellent... particularly with maps getting more and more complex. (You might remember I suggested that there be "blinking" highlights for bombarment a while back
)
I have only one suggestion for future release... just something to think over: to get rid of the "Safe" / "Unsafe" highlights since the unsafe highlight looks just like the "attacks and is attacked" highlight from the map hover. Using just the solid square when hovering on a player's name would be easier to understand IMHO
Thanks for the great work on this release.

Re: AJAX BOB 4.5.1 Development/Discussion (don't post bugs here)
We discussed this a fair bit in the GM usergroup - and people do like the "safe" territories - and I think it's quite a cool feature... especially now that I fixed it for bombarding...
The new attack hovers followed a fair bit of iteration and we've actually changed the "unsafe" territories to look "open"... and "safe" to be enclosed (I'm sure you can see the logic there)...
This same logic flows with the attack to the right - defend to the left - or both ends open mean both...
The same with the Bombarding -> top open to imply firing artillery up into the air - bottom open to show shells exploding from the floor - and both ends open to show both.
Note of course - that the "attack" hovers - are only ever relevant if you are only looking at 1 territory... hence why the player hovers are able to show Safe/Risk territories.

Is this feature meant to be persistent? I clicked on both links within one game. When I then attacked or deployed or fortified, the links reappeared and the text map/statistics were fixed not scrolling. Should this be in here or in the bugs thread?

No they aren't persistent except for the specific turn/game you are in at that time. It's more of a "I don't want to scroll through this - If I click this link I can shorten it and get to the chat" kindof feature.

Just to check - I've just played a few turns - once I have clicked them to make them "scrollable" then they are scrollable - until I leave that game... (Note: unless I have deferred armies - which cause a screen refresh)

Maybe the issue was that the boxes were not big enough to actually need scrolling. Could that be the issue? I do not have any turns right now, so I cannot check for a while.

Re: AJAX BOB 4.5.1 Development/Discussion (don't post bugs here)
I've noticed... and I don't really see why this would be the case... but log processing seems to take a lot longer since the BoB upgrade. I don't know if would be on the server side, like maybe so many people now have BoB that it just coincidentally is undermining the partial log "fix" that Lack & co. did to the site a while back when the server was crashing, or if there is something in the script that is getting hung on the client side here...
Sometimes it actually returns a communication error, but a lot of times its just really slow. And it seems to be worst in multiplayer games, or games that have gone on for more rounds (I'm not talking 100s of rounds, just like say 15).
Thoughts? Maybe I'm imagining it... but is it be possible to keep a persistent copy of the log on the client side so that you don't end up having to pull the whole thing off the server every round... I don't know, maybe your already doing this, but if not at some point when enough people use BoB we are headed for the same problem with the load on the server that was killing things....
**EDIT** Yeti... I just read your post on in the CM thread. Does this have to do with whether you hit f5 or click refresh map...?

Yes - hitting F5 will cause the entire log to be downloaded every time... Use refresh map as it won't...
Also - you could try turning "Full log" on this will make the server provide the log at the start of the game instead of BOB having to download it...
(However this only works from the "mygames" screen - not the "play next waiting game" link.)

yeti for the ingame map options can we have a reset button that will put the opacity back to 100% and the px alignment back to zero? My coordinates seem to change daily and Ifind it frustrating to click like 40 times to get it back to zero.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

Can you split the "armys due" into two sections, auto-deploy and regular?
Cause on feudal wars, when its telling me I'm getting 20 armies, its kinda confusing cause 10 of those are auto-deployed onto my casltes, so I only really get 10 armies to do what I want and the other 10 are stuck on my castles.

If you put the stats on extended, the army bonuses are split into three categories: territory count, continent bonuses, and auto deployed.

Then can we customize the stuff thats shown in the stats boxes?
I dont care for all the %s, and they make the stats list too cluttered and confusing for me to like, but I do like knowing how many I can regular deploy, and how many are auto.

A good idea I think wca ... there are a few bits that I'd like from the extended view in my standard view, but I appreciate that not everyone's tastes are the same.
How about:
Stats On | Off
And then a new:
Customize Stats
... which would be a series of check boxes so that you could pick and chose which fields you wanted in your personal stats display.

Not my fault I think you'll find... Lack changed the way the logs are loaded on the entire Site...
If you set "Full Log" to On then BOB will load quicker (although your actual game won't)
