My word is Midweek. Good for 17 points, but I used 2 vowels, so I'm down to 15.

However, I reserve the right to change my word after I look at the British dictionary since apparently it has made up words in it.

Yeah it has quite a few that are not in our version.

Well, at first I thought jux might be a latin word, but I checked a couple online latin dictionaries, and it isn't. If it was a valid latin word that still wouldn't make it eligible, but it would at least have increased our erudition somewhat. No such luck, however. Interestingly, it is not even the root of juxta because juxta is itself a contraction of jugista, so its root is jugos.

I did find jux in the urban dictionary, as a word in (American) hip-hop slang, but while some slang does eventually migrate into the mainstream and get included in mainstream dictionaries, this word has not yet done so. It definitely is not in either the American (Hasbro) or British (SOWPODS) Scrabble dictionaries.

So, while JUX would score a cool 19 points, it is not a word by our rules.

@thekidstrumpet: I know that your word wouldn't have won, but I still wish you would have posted it for the record. Would have been nice to have a complete list. Ditto for dazza, who has been sitting on 15-point PUGGY since phase one and didn't post it...

A real horse-race right up to the end! I'm very please with how close it finally was. I was inventing something new, and unfortunately I didn't foresee everything when I wrote the original rules. So basically, you can all consider yourselves Beta testers. I fully intend to run this contest again, although not immediately. If you have any suggestions for how to make the next edition better, please don't be shy: speak up!
