Re: The Thing Day 1
PS I agree with strike that we need time to push for a lynch. I am not confident that the speed of this game increases, so imo we need to get a BT going in the next 24 hours. I dont see that happening, hence I'm trying to accelerate the lynch so that we hopefully have some wagons ready once we get the BT result.
FP votanic again:
I dont see how that's ever OMGUS. Town needs to use all of its tools each day imo, and because the thing can convert a BT only makes them trust-worthy for that day. I dont mind BT traf and vote dega, I just want to have my votes on these people right now.
btw I didnt want to say this earlier but the cult games I have played have always been full vanilla vs cult. There, I said it. I'm vanilla.

Now if you don't mind, I'll actually head to Dreamland now
. I hope I made my reasoning for my two votes clear, I didnt think the idea of voting would draw this much attention.

Re: The Thing Day 1
Okay, that's enough. I'm going to vote now, for the blood test only.
BT Dega
I have been saying all along, that this first test will be a 'randwagon', so it's time I just got on it.
My main reason for voting Dega is that there are already four votes cast by experienced players, so at least the majority of them must be town.
(Looks suspiciously at EW)
Blood Test Vote:
(1) Pixar - Swang
(2) Traf - Sonic, Charle
(1) Charle - Pixar
(5) Dega - Ragian, Strike, Traf, EW, Votanic
Btw, Sonic earlier said that EW's vote might not count due to a technicality, if that is true, let's get that fixed, so there isn't any vote counting nonsense.

Unvote Dega
Before sonic or someone jumps to get the BTs.
Cause if I say a BTs on me is wated a Lynch is even worst. So far none is voting for it, but for EW, I get it, I was trying to ignore his nonsense and just try to see if we could get a BT, but if people want to lynch me then I rather get BTed

I meant ignore Sonic nonsense, not EW. Although it really strikes to me he goes for a lynch even if he wants to say we need to advance lynch votes. I dont see a reason why we wouldnt get the votes for a lynch before the 10 if we BT tomorrow or on Monday but okTrafalgarLaw01 wrote:Unvote Dega

You would rather get blood tested than lynched.. that makes sense in RL, but in the game if you're town, you should know that a wasted blood test is bad news too.
So there are three possibilities,
1) You're The Thing using reverse psychology on us, so we won't test or lynch you;
2) You're Town using reverse psychology on us , so we won't test or lynch you;
or 3) You're Town playing badly, trying to save you're own skin by being tested, at the expense of the Town's resources.
I'll admit, I've been second-guessing my 'random' BT vote on Dega, especially since the two players that actually made me somewhat suspicious were Sonic and EW...
but nobody else was voting for either of them, and I don't want to split the BT vote even further.
That is not the case with, Traf, who is already a candidate... but right now, I really don't know what to think about him.
I'm not going to change my BT vote, not yet anyway.
I want the other players to chime in with their analyses of
1) Traf's odd wanting-to-be-tested behavior...
2) EW's odd sudden-lynch-vote-before-BT behavior...
and 3) Sonic's need-to-create-complex-BS-theories behavior (though it sounds like that may just be how Sonic plays it in all Mafia/Cult games).
Good night, I won't post again until after there are new, fresh, and insightful posts to read.

Yes I am trying to save myself but certainly not against town. Whats the worst possible outcome for town D1? Easy, lynching a town. I had said more than once before a bt on me is wasted. But if people are gonna either test me or lynch me then I rather not have town waste the biggest and more inpactful lynch
Re: The Thing Day 1
If he's town, then being randomly BT'ed is much better than being randomly lynched. If he's the thing, then they're essentially the same, because a negative test would result in an instant lynch. I, too, would rather be BT'ed than lynched. (But of course, I would still say that even if I were the Thing.)Votanic wrote:Wow...TrafalgarLaw01 wrote:I meant ignore Sonic nonsense, not EW. I think the only game I've been in that had a cult was Foundation Mafia, and the cult was eliminated by chance on N1. So I have no clue right now who would be a good BT candidate.
But since I was at BT-1, I'll claim... I'm Windows, a vanilla townie. I don't even know if we have any power roles in this game.
That may not exonerate me if DDS chose a random player to infect, but two different sites I've seen say that Norris was the first one infected, so if DDS followed the movie, then we could do a mass-claim of character names and BT Norris.

BT Dega
I just think the quicker we get the BT, the longer time we have to agree on the lynch. It might be jumping on bandwagon, but my vote goes to what town is deciding

I think a mass claim would not help town. I think everybody is vanilla except perhaps "MacReady". The hero in The Thing. So if there is a "MacReady" in here the mass claim would provide a big red dot on his back for The Thing.degaston wrote:If he's town, then being randomly BT'ed is much better than being randomly lynched. And when there is no "MacReady" in this game (or he is vanilla too), then (and in any case) i believe "The Thing" will claim a safe vanilla role (safely provided by the mod). So the result of the mass-claim would probably get us nowhere. It could do even worse if "MacReady" (as townie) feels he has to come up with a false identity (to protect him and his townpowers) and picks another role already in the game..
Also after posting your "Norris" theory, The Thing (if his character name is Norris) will surely use another safe claim?
I still have that feeling Traf is very invested in this game because he might be the Thing. And the argument saying "im not the Thing so a BT on me is a wasted one for town" is exactly what the Thing would say too..so sticking to that argument is the real bs.
In any case EW is right, we do need a BT and a Lynch today. However, saying i want to BT Traf is not the same as saying i want to Lynch him if Deg tests negavtive. If we BT the dice is cast and we will have to follow that path we chose for the rest of the game.

Re: The Thing Day 1
How many safe claims do you think there could be? There weren't a lot of characters in the movie.SoN!c wrote:I think a mass claim would not help town. At least we're on the same page now that it's a lot better to get BT then getting lynched..
We (town) agreed to BT and lynch everyday..so 60% of us will get BT or lynched in the end..
That being said i do not think Traf is The Thing. I just think his chances being The Thing are a lot higher then the 10% random vote. And that is why i wanna BT Traf as an experienced player.
So: Yes we should BT an experienced player. No doubt whatsoever. But lynching an experienced player is quite another Thing. We need the experienced players to find The Thing.

Wouldnt it be fun to have inexperienced players fight who the thing is? And if Dega BT's negative and you consider Traf 16% "the thing", isnt that a lot better than a random lynch between the other 8 people?SoN!c wrote:At least we're on the same page now that it's a lot better to get BT then getting lynched..

In general idk if I've mentioned this before or anyone for that matter, the random vote is not a 10% random vote if you dont get voted yourself. The only alignment you are 100% sure of, is yourself.

True. But its all about how rest of town sees it.. No way rest of town will ever know (because only The Thing can say he is 100% sure about the others).

Re: The Thing Day 1
With degaston being less participatory I don't really like BTing him. Reason being if he tests and is confirmed town, we don't get the benefit of that confirmed town voice since he's not posting much. Therefore I'd rather BT trafalgar.
BT Trafalgar.
BT Trafalgar.

But to continue your line of reasoning, perhaps we should BT Sonic so that at least for the rest of this day we know that the conversation isn't being directed by the Thing.

When did we agree to that?SoN!c wrote:We (town) agreed to BT and lynch everyday..so 60% of us will get BT or lynched in the end..
I don't think we should lynch anyone today without a positive BT.
If we mis-lynch a townie today, and don't find a thing tomorrow, then we'll have lost by N2. If we don't mis-lynch, then we can at least survive until N3.

@Degaston (for the others: this is a long post with old news)
This was posted in your "absence". The period when you were silent. You could have posted something in those days if you did not agree? Because the math gives us the best win %.
It looks like we are all vanilla scientists and there is no "MacReady" in the game. That was one of the question when this was discussed: Is there a hero with (night-)powers y/n?
But what you found from the sign-up thread:
= no town hero and even MacReady could be The Thing right? "a new mechanic for town to combat cult/keep with the theme" = the BT right?"So I'm eliminating Mac as a town hero and immunity since it just feels OP, however, I'll keep the random choice for the Thing and introduce a new mechanic for town to combat cult/keep with the theme"
And it's 1 BT a day right?
This was the math (could be we were wrong?):
Only BT scenario:
D2: 2 things versus 8 town needing 6 votes = 1 chance to find the Thing
D3: 3 things vs 7 town needing 6 votes = 1 chance to find the Thing
D4: 4 things vs 6 town needing 6 votes = 1 chance to find the Thing
D5: 5 things vs 5 town needing 6 votes = 0 chance
So including the BT on D1 = total of 4 chances. D4 is the last day (town loses mathematical vote majority after D4, if you don't have the Thing by then.
(= 30% to 40% chance to win)
> but 6 townies needing 6 votes with 4 things steering them? Lets say 3BT is the maximum you will get.
BT and Lynch scenario:
D2: 2 things and 7 town needing 5 votes = 2 chances to find the Thing
D3: 3 things and 5 town needing 5 votes = 2 chances to find the Thing
D4: 4 Things and 3 town needing 5 votes = 0 chance
including the BT and Lynch on D1 = total of 6 chances (vs 3 on BT only)
(60 % win chance).
BT and Lynch with only BT on D2, D3 scenario:
D2: 2 things and 7 town needing 5 votes = 1 chance
D3: 3 things and 6 town needing 5 votes = 1 chance
D4: 4 things and 5 town needing 5 votes = 2 chances if you BT first and lynch on D4
including the BT and Lynch on D1 = total of 6 chances (vs 3 on BT only)
(60% win chance)
This scenario gives you the longest "survive time" on the 60% win chance. Only if there is a town hero with night powers this scenario would be slightly more interesting because its way harder to get the town votes on D4 to match the 60% win chance
