Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
Looking at the US's and mexico's final squad, they dont really have a brilliant player to come off the bench.
Brazil wont make it out of group stages. Their best player in midfield is a diva that wont get his shit together in time (kaka). They practically have issues in every line. They arent really a "team".
Argentina's upper half of the field is brutal, not much on defence. Wont matter if messi steps up.
The best team is spain. Best midfield in the world. Best pair of attackers. Pique and that Abidol in the backline with casillas to back them up.

It seems that the World Cup brings out Pedro's wagering side.
2:1 he loses more than he wins (in real money, none of these internet bets... although, this one is for real money..... if I win)

Yeah, I definitely voted for Greece. They need something to keep the spirits up.

I've been saying for months - Brazil won't get out of their group. I'm taking Portugal and Cote D'Ivoire.
But I'm taking Spain to win it all. (rooting for USA, England, and Serbia to do well though)

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
Im rooting for the USA...but I don't really expect much. If I had to seriously root for someone it would be Portugal or Italy...but Portugal has a pretty tough division.

2010 World Cup
US have no chance, It's gonna be one of the usuals, ie Germany, Italy, Brazil, Argentina etc... Spain do have a chance and I want England to win but won't be betting the house on it.

I think the Americans have more will power than the English this year and they'll get farther in the tournament.
If you believe that, I'll wager 3 conquer club games and the points that are won or lost.
If America get further than England... 3 games of singles and I let you win all three.
If England get further... You let me win 3 games
if America and England get knocked out in the same round - it's a tie and no CC games will be needed.
Do we have a wager?
I haven't read the rest of the thread, but I'll get in on this.

Holland's defense will fail them, like always.

Well, yeah, the U.S. have little chance of winning, but getting out of group play and winning a quarterfinal would be huge for the U.S.
If only that dumbass Charlie Davies would have stayed home with his girlfriend, we might have more hope ...

I'll go four posts in a row. Don't worry about it.

Just to clarify, you are going to expect the USA to go further than England?

Who? I've heard of Donovan and Spector, Friedel and Howard, McBride too but other than that don't know many of your players... Not that I've looked but generally they're the ones I could name so who's this Davies fellow?

A very speedy striker that played opposite of Jozy Altidore, but the dumbass went partying with some chicks 6 months ago, got in a car wreck and broke a bunch of shit. He returned to FC Sochaux (in France), but wasn't put on the US roster. Fucker.
Donovan is of course our star and Howard is amazing in goal. Clint Dempsey is pretty solid as well and Altidore is good - though he didn't score much in Europe this past season.
The problem with the US is they have the worst defense ever, unless Gooch (I can't actually spell his name) magically heals up (someone give the man some steroids). He hasn't looked good and without him, our defense is awful, to say the least.

Yeah, I can dig that.
We'll beat you in 11 days and then take the group, then we'll actually win our quarterfinal game.
Right?

Angola, you are aware that there's a round between the group stage and the quarter finals right?

Right, I forgot. U.S. won't win a quarterfinal, but they will win a second round game. My bad.

Well, if you're in the bet too, should we get another Englishman to make the bet 2v2?

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
Yes but Australia plays 6 times better than the US. The rankings don't mean much at all if anything. I wouldn't make a bet on whos going to win a football match depending on their ranking.
However with Australia soon versing the US in a 'friendly' my comments could be ripped to shreads or I could be sitting smug.
