There was a rash of people competing for large post counts in Spamalot so "they" decided to change it so OT posts didn't count to stop them from having fun with their game.

What, you forget the pikachu clan? I admit, I was a member of it and was one of the leading posters at the time, often in the "spam wars" with Spamalot at the time. Ah, good times. Then they redid everything so that you can only have 5 quotes (granted, it sometimes did become ridiculous with quotes), posts in OT and private forums no longer count towards post counts, and more and more lately, rules have become much stricter (and evidently new ones were put in place without them being posted). But, it didn't help that Flame Wars was deleted (but it had become a cesspool overtime), wicked going nuts, and Norse continuously coming back. I think he may have set a record for permabans with all of the multis he made.
I'm really confused at who would complain about post count....who cares? Is it a competition? Why wouldn't this forum count? I never got the memo that off-topics was off-limits. Hey, I guess you learn something everyday. Though this is...weird.

The stopped counting off topic because some people DID see it as a competition and were posting a lot of "spam"/worthless posts. Admin was afraid it would get out of hand and so stopped counting those posts.

I don't see how anyone in admin though that would fix anything? Did they personally have to count the posts or something? It just seems like a pointless rule just to have a rule.
