The crew were gathered together. Somewhere on board the ship was a non-human life form and they were worried about what could happen. it had already attacked one crew member and then vanished from quarantine without a trace and now it could be anywhere waiting to strike.

However, according to the scene flavor, Kane is already dead. Therefore, who is the last player supposed to be? Could be the cat I suppose.

Also, we have to wonder at whether Ash would be considered a townie or not.

Don't forget "mother" the ship's computer. She could be a character.

I think ash would have to be scum as his main objective is to bring the alien back. The safety of the crew is not a concern for him which is why he broke the quarantine protocol and brought Kane on board after the face hugger got him.

Forget mother. She would have to be scum too. From the avp wiki page:

"Mother worked with Science Officer Ash to implement Special Order 937 and ensure the survival of the Xenomorph specimen collected on Acheron LV-426. Mother also monitored the activities of the crew of the Nostromo for Weyland-Yutani. It was seen as something of an antagonist during the events of Alien, as it refused to give Ripley advice on how to kill the Alien."

That would make 3 scum which seems like too many for an 8 player game. So I would say alien and ash are scum. Rest of the crew plus the cat as potential townies.

I don't think anybody is dead yet, It only says a crew member was attacked so Kane could still be in the game.

The following is just my imagination running wild...

it said that it escaped from the quarantine area. in the movie its the face hugger that escapes from quarantine. what if right now its just the face hugger running around? and if kane is killed (or at some predetermined point modkilled) then the face-hugger turns into the alien?

I dunno, the most active thing about me is my imagination.

Meh, I mixed up hair colors. Its been a while since I watched the first movie, so being able to remember the scene where it seemed the alien was going to rape the girl is good enough for me.

The attack makes no mention of a death so I assume we have a chest burst approaching.
