WINbyTWO “fair start” British Isles [WON: RAGIAN]
Moderator: Tournament Directors
Re: WINbyTWO “fair start” on British Isles [Round 1]
Sent out extra Round 1 games to get everyone up to 3 starts.
Remember, only the games with the first 3 starts by each player count unless there is a tie.

Getting things updated after the holidays...
Now we're just waiting for Guderian09 and musicalmaven to play a couple more games since they tied the first 6.

If nothing else this tourney proves the advantage of going first...

Re: WINbyTWO “fair start” on British Isles [Finals]
LOL. We need HOWITZERHAL to get more starts and we need one of you to break the other's start!

At least on this map and at this time against these 2 players. It appears the advantage goes to the starter. Mostly because my opponent is a better player....
Great Tourny Jon.
Cheers,

I'm glad you're enjoying it!

OK here's a graphic that might make it easier to track. I can't figure out how to make a table or columns in these posts so I'll paste an image.

The whole point of this tournament is to count an even number of starts for each player.
Games are in order by number which reflects the order in which they were begun & played.
Ragian has already played his next 6 starts and won the first 4 before HOWITZERHAL broke his serve in Game 12639090.
In order for HOWITZERHAL to win the match, he must win his next 5 starts.
In order for Ragian to win, he must win one of those starts by HOWITZERHAL.
GL and may the dice be ever in your favor!

Re: WINbyTWO “fair start” on British Isles [Finals]
If there's a better way to score this, I would love to find it for the next tourney.
Perhaps I could say that we count starts AND wins or something...
So games 12639090 and 12685335 would count as wins for HOWITZERHAL even though he didn't start them and that MIGHT put us a little closer to ending it!
OR maybe we could give 2 points for winning a game you didn't start and 1 point for winning a game you started and play toward a goal, win by 3 or something... BUT HOWITZERHAL would have lost by now with that scheme.

I do not think it is your tourny Jon.....It is me. I have a knack for hanging on when the going gets tough.....And this tourny plays into that. Gives me a chance to keep going when it normally would have been over.......lol
Keep up the good work budd,
HAL

WINNER: Ragian
After an epic final match in which the contenders played 34 games...
We finally have a winner!

Congratulations to [player]Ragian[/player]!!
Who takes the victory with a record of 11 wins to HOWITZERHAL's 9 wins in games that count.
They played extra games as we were trying to get HOWITZERHAL an equal number of starts. 34 games in all.
And of those games Ragian started 22...
An interesting detail is that the both ended up with a number of wins equal to their number of starts.
This whole match has just gone to prove how important is the advantage of starting a game.
Grats to [player]HOWITZERHAL[/player] for placing second!
He should get a GA medal for endurance...
And grats also to [player]thunderhue[/player] for taking 3rd place in the consolation match!
Here's an explanation of the final match which hopefully makes sense:
