I think you can keep it as territories and not midkemia-style attack routes. But you might want to add some green to spice up the map. Plus you'll need to go into photoshop and customize the map to the extent that the copyright owner no longer has a claim...
You'd probably be best served to take a public domain image (perhaps something from NASA, as I believe all US government images are in the public domain) and alter it with photoshop, using a privately-generated terraformed Mars image as your guide. That way you get the geography right, but you're not replicating copyrighted material. It'll be a pain in the ass, but it's better than doing a bunch of work then having to change everything because the copyright holder objects.

well iv'e been working on it and i have changed the attack routes so that they are exactly alike the Midkemia and changed the colours a bit. i was going to use the terraformed green picture that was shown earlier but it did not connect all the way around.
Here is the large.
Making territories won't be a problem, i need to find some things about how to use gimp.

well i could do a map without the water....
edit>
Im thinking of three possibilities
one this as the backgroundor this this one as the background or we could just leave it as is. I would run this as a poll but i can't figure out how to change the poll.

I disagree.... sure, let's keep the land red, but the big problem with maps of planets and moons has been the fact that they're generally uniform in color. Do I think that a killer mars map could be made just using red? Sure, but the degree of difficulty is waaaaaay harder. Plus by adding water he can use the terraforming itself as a theme/concept/whatever.

one thing, I think you should finish the lines, example Aonia-Green.
extend the attack routes or extend the continent?
the attack routes need to continue
