Still haven't worked out what a freemium is for the tourney. I started as one, reffered someone and became a premium for a month... and now I'm about to lose it and be back as a freemium :S

There has not been a definitive answer on that question yet. However, I'll say again that it should be what you started the tourney as. CC (the folks who approve the GA medals) shouldn't reward people for not paying the site.

I think it came down to:
a) There's no record of who was freemium when the tourney started
b) The "reward" is a little icon under your name in the forums (or in many cases, another number on that icon). If you're holding out premium waiting for that prize, you probably weren't going to buy anyway.

a) I'm sure that CC keeps track of when people pay them
b) So are you suggesting that the rule be that a person has to be a freemium when the tourney ends?

CC isn't running the tourney; HA is. Could they compare a list of usernames with their accounting records to determine who was premium or freemium at a certain point in time? Probably. Would they, for a tournament? Probably not.

I'm not suggesting anything. I'm just stating what I believe was mentioned in the thread, but I'm not wading through 300 pages to see if that's right.

Yeah but CC gives HA the medals to give out.

I don't remember the issue ever being decided, and I think I've read all the posts as they've gone up.

Whatever, if it's that a person has to be a freemium at the end of the tourney, so be it. I just don't think that makes sense from CC's perspective.

Maybe HA can shed some light on this debate when he has a chance ...

I need to get some insight from Night Strike on what he thinks because it is a catch 22--I feel it should go to someone who was freemium when it started (period) Like DM said it is just a little icon. I have a few--nice to win but I don't even remember what I won them for at this point--well I do because I have a good memory but really they do not mean that much--winning a title always means more and winning a large tourney even more.

Winning this tourney would be awesome but I can't win it.

Can't wait for my 500th celebration--maybe we can get 5000 players involved in that one

If I remember correctly I was a freemium when I started this tourney but that lasted only a round maybe two. And honestly I don't think that should make me eligible for the GA medal. Because for most of the tourney I didn't have to deal with the need to make sure I have room for my next game. Maybe there should be a requirement of a x minimum number of round played as a freemium, but then again how do you determine who was a freemium, for how long, and when :/
like HA said catch 22

i don't know what infomation on who is/was premium is avaliable to HA but it sounds like they will only be able to see who is presntly premium, if so the only possible way to do the GA would be on who is fremium at the end that lasted the longest and checking if they believe they are eligible (someone in kondrad's position might decline for example) ,if there eligible give them the medal otherwise go to the next person and so on.
its not a great way but atleast its do able and means the acheivment will mean something to who gets it

I agree. Its fairly likely that the practical problem of it will be fairly limited. I have little doubt that freemiums surviving will feel an increasing need to go weeeeeee.

(weeeeeee)

I assume there are still several hundred left, though ;-)

As for first time tourney players, Im more at a loss. Anyone have an idea of how usual it is being a first timer?. - Given the excellent publicity of this tourney, I assume that there were a good number of first timers when starting, and there should still be quite a few of us around, though possibly fewer than the freemium count?
PM me for an invite to Ikariam, a balanced strategy MMORPG centered on a city-based empire. Help and extra resources from me and an extra tradships and a small science bonus to both of us if you do :-)

That one's easy since you can just search to see if the player had any tournament games before the start date of this tourney.

There should have been a list compiled when the tourney started.

Yeah, I know ;) I was just wondering if anyone had any idea how many first timers are left. - Its still somewhat of a massive task to chew through 543 players ;-)

Your guess is as good as anyone's. If somebody really wanted to, they could look through the first 20 or so players and hope they have a representative sample. Regardless, I don't think it really matters at this point in the tourney just cuz, as you said, there are probably hundreds still left.

I think when we get down to 100 players left I will take a little time to go through and make some determinations. It is not going to be a perfect science with the freemium thing but if they started as freemium and last the longest I think they deserve the medal if they want it. Some of this may have to be based on honor and honesty. When I put the tourney together it was a huge task and I did not think through all the GA MEDALS as good as I probably could have.

On a side note--I will try and get the next round out tomorrow night like it states so look for that pm sometime late tomorrow night. I have a bad cold and lack of energy so I need to see how I feel after work tomorrow but since I am working doubles on Tuesday and Wed I need to get it done tomorrow night.

7:49--9/12 --I only have to make 675 games for this round so the first ten players that wall me(it has to be a wall) will get at least 25 games made for them. If I get more than ten while I am making games I will also make games in their behalf as well. I will make games for the next hour or so, so after that time frame I will be the decider of maps and settings.

OK I will be finalizing the games now--no more requests--passcode will be sent out shortly--I was hoping to do a bounty but I cant seem to get a hold of the two players offering up bounties

Round Ten begins with a super bounty--one year premium if you get into the game and win the game--safariguy5-the winner of the GA MEDAL for being the last player to not lose a game by playing one game each round and actually the last undefeated player in the tourney has made an offer of one year premium if you can do two things--be the first to answer the question below by posting in the thread:

"What is the first clan that safariguy5 was in? and then doing the almost impossible --beating him in the bounty game

If you can do both you will win a one year premium membership supplied by safariguy5

Thank you so much for contributing to this great tourney
